Moya

Moya is a lush blue-green planet located in the outskirts of sector 22, in the core regions of the Galaxy.   The planet is inhabited by at least 22 million people, 99.47% of which have been calculated to be of Moyan ethnicity.

Geology

The planet has a medium-sized core, of predominant iron composition.   It also features large tectonic plates, 3 deep sea trenches, and a large equatorial ocean which covers most of the planet's surface. This ocean, commonly known as Mylagonara, represents a large continuous water mass from which typhoons originate almost yearly.   The continents of the planet, small and not numerous, are mostly located around the equator, with Pylangar being the exception. Located near the northern pole of the planet and with a mostly temperate climate, the continent is barely inhabited but by mining outposts and tourist traps.

Culture

Moyans have been characterised as thoughful and discrete, while still keeping a close grip to their culture and identity.   Its faith system encompasses many traditions, many considered ancient and gruesome, which include rituals, sacrifices, and blood offerings directed towards a large Pantheon of gods believed to rule over the universe and existence itself. Through leadership, and seeking wider galactic acceptance, some of the bloodier rituals and animal offerings have been modified, featuring many new incorporations of blood-less displays with bases on the old scriptures and reformed ancestral traditions.   At least 22 million Moyans inhabit the planet, the vast majority of which know of the existence of the Galaxy and its government. It is to be noted, however, that record exists of clans not aknowledging the existence of galactic-wide governments as of current date. All major Moyan settlements are located in the coastal regions of the Kalabyra Continent, facing the large Mylagonara ocean that covers most of the planet.   From these, the more well-known ones are:
  • Kasan
  • Haban
  • Tylamon
  • Yaria
  • Mythology

In most Moyan Cultures, the ocean is usually portrayed by a divine figure, most of times by a female Goddess. This deity, which has been given numerous names across the multiple ethnic groups and mythologies of the planet, has come to be known as Mylago in modern times (this being under both the modern mythology of the planet, and the wider, now more homogenized pan-Moyan culture, often referred to Panmoyaism, which englobes a simplified and unified version of all mythologies and cultures of the planet).   In Modern Panmoyanism, this deity is called Myalgo, and represents the Goddess of elements like the Sea, Water, Fire and Nature. She has become the symbolic face of "mother nature" in the planet of Moya and is depicted as the mother of Moya, the deity that symbolizes the planet itself.
