Cornerstone for the Rift Break for the Green Dimension

The cornerstones are a supporting ritual to the Riftbreak to the green dimension. The ritual to open a rift for the green hive is supported by three corner stones, or rift breakers. These rift breakers are used to weaken the fabric between the green dimension and the human dimension.   The cornerstone is a mehir made of stone - in general, a 1.5 - 2 meter high, square stone which narrows into a single point at the top like an obelisk. The menhir is inscribed with runes of the green dimension, one on each side.   The menhir is surrounded by three fused saplings, which are used to provide the ritual with energy. The fused saplings are connected by three ropes, and additional pieces of power are added to the ropes to create a stronger effect.

Execution

  1. For practical reasons, it is common and recommended to place the menhir first. There is no ritual in placing the menhir in itself and it can be done in any way sensible to the performer of the ritual.
  2. Second, it is recommended to plant the three fused saplings. The saplings have to be placed on an equilateral triangle with the menhir in the center. Tests have shown there is some tolerance to the positioning of the menhir
  3. Each of the saplings will be suppounded by a circular, shallow trough of 30 - 50 centimeters in diameter and about 5 centimeres in depth at its deepest point. It should be tight, but the precise diameter will depend on the rootwork of the planted saplings.
  4. The three circles have to be connected with three straight shallow troughs like the circles are.
  5. At this point, the three connecting ropes can be hung up connecting the saplings with each other. There is no harm in damaging the troughs with the rope. It is recommended to let the rope slack 5-10 centimeters at it's lowest end to avoid damage to the saplings if the saplings sway or the rope get's pulled. However, the rope must not touch the ground. Any brought pieces of power can be attached to the connecting ropes via string.
  6. As a final preparation step before contacting the brood mother, the troughs should be filled with petals of power until the bottom of the troughs is not visible anymore. Do not be stingy here, the powder is easy to make and craft in large quantities.
  7. At this point, if a broodmothers claw is held above either of the three fused saplings, bright green lines of energy should appear on the blade of the claw and the lines on the handle should start pulsing. This indicates correct arrangement and function of the circles of powder of power.
  8. This is the point of no return
  9. At this point, the cultist should draw a long cut above each of the three saplings, vertically down, aligned with the growth direction of the sapling with a quick, solid cutting movement. This should result in the known rift cut by the broodmothers claw (see there), but instead of just closing along the cut, it should collapse into a fine mist of green energy rising up from the sapling
  10. Once this mist is rising up from each of the three fused saplings, three more cuts have to be made along the ropes connecting the saplings. These cuts should start inside the circle around the saplings, but as long as the cultist stays right above the line of powder of power, the claw should keep cutting. Similar to the dimensional cuts above the fused saplings, or rifts should not just disappear, but they should fade into the same rising mist. The mist should begin to be pulled towards the middle, the menhir as the rifts between the saplings are connected.
  11. Once this has been completed for all three ropes and connections, the green mist should be rising up on top of the menhir, and over an hour or two, there should be a visible increase in intensity of these rising energy mists. At this point, the ritual is correctly setup.

Effect

Immediate phase
The immediate phase will occur immediately after, and even during the completion of the ritual.   The primary effect is invisible to the human eye - the fabric between the green dimension and the human dimension is being weakened.   The best indication of the ritual correctly working is an indication of flowing energy. A green mist will be released, primarily from the fused saplings but also from the ropes in between the saplings. Similar to a candle, or heat, this energy will be drawn towards the menhir in the center and rises up on top of the menhir. This results in a strong concentration of the green mist on top of the menhir, which then escapes further towards the sky, losing intensity.
First 10 - 12 hours
Shortly after the initial phase, plants surrounding the menhir will begin to transfer and fall under the green dimensions influence. The green dimensions influence spreads in a circular pattern with an increasing radius. Intially, the spread is about two to three meters per hour - it has not yet been determined what causes the variation in speed of spread. Due to the increasing length of the frontier due to the increasing diameter of the circle, the spread slows down oover time until it stops at about 10 meters in radius or 20 meters in diameter. On average, the corruption spreads at about a meter per hour and reaches maximum explansion after 10 - 12 hours.
After ~18 - 36 hours
It is unclear if this is timed or triggered by the sun, or possibly a sequence of both. The common theory as of the time of writing is that it's the first daylight after the corruption has spread to it's full extent.   At this point, the mist usually has reached a fairly high density and should almost look flowing or streaking, like clear water flowing in a river, but upwards.   At this point, small circular rifts will be poked from absolutely nowhere on one side of the menhir. Eventually, short, stout mandibles will begin to rip at these small holes and will start to tear away at the fabric, creating an ever increasing hole between the green dimension and the dimension of the humans. The rift is generally extended until it has a rough diameter of 30 - 50 centimeters. At this point, a Hive Worker will step through the rift between the dimensions. It will generally bring an assortment of seeds with it, and afterwards, the rift will collapse rapidly.
Following 2-3 days, about 3-5 days after initiation
At this point, the hive worker will use it's mandibles to dig up a ring of about 1 meter in diameter on the edge of the green dimensions corruption. It will spread some of the seeds it has brought with it. These seeds contain a special seed, which is often used by beings from the green dimension to protect different places. This fern grows rapidly over 1-2 days until it is about 2 - 3 meters in height.
