Hive Worker

Basic Information

Anatomy

The body of the hive workers is shaped like a beetle, it is segmented into three parts - the head, the shoulder portion or thorax, and the abdomen. Two sets of legs are attached to the shoulder thorax and the final piece of legs is attached to the abdomen.   The head bears a large pair of pincers, but unlike the soldier variant of the hive beetles, the mandibles are less sharp and geared towards a strong grip and friction. However, the hive workers are still able to use their mandibles to output a tremendous amount of pressure, which can break most human bones. Additionally, the mandibles each contain a pocket that can dispense a strongly smelling acid compound. It is supposed this is used to allow the hive worker to break through stronger material.   The head dons two large eyes oriented forward. The eyes are segmented into hexagonal visual segments, and each of these segments has a tiny, but brightly glowing green dot inside it. As such, in the dark, the eyes will look like an oblong, oval grid of small green dots.   On top of the head, a hive worker has two antennas. These antennas are twisted into irregluar spirals, changing in distance between two windings and sometimes even reversing it's rotation entirely.
