The Twin Orders Of Tyet

the twin orders of tyet are the healer's order and the knightly order, together they rule the city of tyet and the surrounding lands of tyetolia as well as the plains dordanea to the west. both these orders were mythically founded by a person named retphha, who preached ideals of peace, compassion, and tolerance. these two orders are intended to be areligious and non-discriminatory, however, there have been problems regarding this in the past.

Structure

the governing of tyet and the surrounding kingdom is handled by the twin orders; the knightly order is a martial service of soldiers and knights, they are trained since childhood and educated in the ways of warfare and its history. and the healers' order is a semi-monastic order of scholars, surgeons, and historians. most internal bureaucracy is handled by the healer's order, this includes taxes, the state budget, infrastructure, etc, etc. while, the knightly order handles external affairs and matters of defense such as border security, law enforcement, and of course war.   each order also has a primary leader; the knightly order has the archknight and the healers order has the archhealer. both are elected by a vote of their entire order and serves for life as the primary leader and decision-maker for their order and much of the kingdom at large.

History

tyet's history is one of slow but steady expansion. in the very beginning, it brought in all land along the widow's weep river through conquest or treaty. then, in the 500s LE the dordeana, a pastoral people to the north swept down upon them, and they warred and fought for two centuries until, after a dordeana defeat, the two groups signed a treaty to integrate them into the kingdom as a semi-autonomous region.   later in the 800s LE - 200s SE, tyetians began settling further up the widows weep river, forming the beginning of the city of senair near the bausjon woodlands, forming the backbone of mosannd's modern population. these settlers warred with the averclol people of the region. the natives often fought with brutal guerilla tactics, using fast-striking night raids mainly targeting civilian settlers. the tyetians retaliated by executing and averclol they came across and their burning villages. this continued until 15 into the conflict the averclol broke and could not any longer, they attempt to reach a peace settlement but the tyetians denied them. with nowhere else to go, they fled north into the misted lands, wherein they vanished to history.

Territories

tyet is in the center of omwela and it borders nearly every country on the continent. with territory along the widow's weep river in tyetol, north up to mosannd and the hleni mountains, and south to meet salnarae and the naltrinease via balos. they also push west into fhlitanol and up to the banks of lake daeris and the rohshar peaks. across the centuries tyet has also at one point ruled parts of mosannd, jaenathar, fhlitanol, teleth, and more.

Military

tyet's military is commanded primarily by officers of the knightly order while being staffed by citizens of the kingdom. either those who can afford to pay for the necessary equipment or those in poverty serving for a set time to be rewarded with a plot of land upon completion of service. in terms of logistics and command, the tyetian government divides the military into four provinces; upper tyetol, lower tyetol, dordeana, and fhlitanol; each with separate armies, supplies, and generals from the knightly order.

Religion

one of the foundational principles of tyet is its state atheism, officially it has near-total freedom of religion, and this has lead to a wider range of faiths present including trekism and hyrilism -though it is still primarily ascendic, with 80% of people following nadallism, fastresloism, or fractureism (which is the majority).

Mythology & Lore

the foundational myth of tyet is that long ago lived a person of neither gender, named retphha lived among a village on the cliffs of a vast circular lake. young retphha was fascinated by the world and the people around them, thus at the age of 20, they left home and began to journey around the vast lake. on their travels, they met many peoples and saw many places, eventually meeting gyel, blacksmith. they were enamored by his dedication to his craft and soon the two were married. and there in the small village, they lived together for 5 years until gyel's death to a dreadful plague.   retphha mourned for a year until they once again set out; soon they came upon a new village where they met teoda, a hunter. retphha were so impressed by how she protected her village and soon again they were married. five years again they lived together until teoda's death from the same plague that killed gyel.   a year more retphha mourned until again they journeyed on. again they visited a village and again they met a local, this time fisherman named causol. there were few fish in the lake and the travel there was dangerous, yet he attempted such anyway. retphha admired his perseverance and soon again they were married.   7 more times did this cycle repeat, each of retphha's spouses -5 men and 5 women- died to a mysterious plague. each time retphha mourned and moved on, until her 10th and last spouse, a weaver named nosa, did they decide to do something the plague. they took each lesson taught to her by their wives and husbands and built a great hall of learning on a tall pillar in the center of the vast lake. they named this hall tyet, the ancient fhlitanol word for knowledge, and they stocked it with books and scrolls, gathering all the medical wisdom to treat the mysterious plague. retphha ran this hall of learning for many years, building 10 great bridges to welcome many people, each named for their wives and husbands. thousands flocked the hall of learning and burgeoning city of tyet, which became a prosperous center of knowledge and tolerance. eventually, at over 100, retphha passed away and left behind a grand city of peace and acceptance.
