The New Bloods
The New Bloods are equal parts a gang, cult and a vampiric pyramid scheme. Led secretly by the influential businessman and elder vampire Gabriel Caballero, they are composed of vampires and mortal Thralls to their magical blood, acting outwardly as a criminal organization that has made aggressive moves on the Nine Rings to take control of a large portion of its night life as well as the private, corporate apparatus that sustains it, using illegal markets to collect funds and distribute vampire blood as its own kind of illegal substance known as 'The Gift.' Their venues and enterprises much less safe and dangerous compared to the more careful Arisen. However, behind this hedonistic surface there is clearly an all-too coordinated if cryptic mission that goes beyond simply making money or securing food sources from unfortunate victims or decadent district-goers.
The organization recruits mortals into their fold either through the gang front of it, or through more discrete means to more influential citizens. They turn people into Thralls - enhanced servitors who need to drink from vampire blood to maintain their addiction and empowerment. - Before turning them into full vampires once they pledge themselves further. Once inside, they finally learn the truth: That their objective is to surpass the limitations of vampirism and become true, trascendent immortals through Blood Magic. This makes members fanatical and truly vicious. With their senior vampires and contacts having been cultivated throughout many decades by Gabriel himself, and brought into the fold for this very operation.
The New Bloods focus most of their activities on the Nine Rings, constantly coming into conflict with The Arisen over control of both its legal businesses and illegal markets, natural and supernatural. But they are also slowly expanding into the West Pierside, seeing its adventurous life-style as a good feeding ground for its members and masters, as well as an important blood source. And are one of the more bloody and outward threats whenever they go.
Gabriel Caballero, Sire of the New Bloods
Rachel Mendoza, Head of the Bloodworkers and Thralls
Vampire Fullbloods: Full-blooded and proven vampire Childer of Gabriel Caballero, with decades or even centuries of experience and honed vampire gifts that make them a diverse and incredibly dangerous bunch. Usually boasting even greater physical strength, durability and speed than their feral counterparts and the occasional power distinct to their particular bloodline, along with the same fast-acting healing.
Bloodworkers: Thralls or lesser vampires instructed in Blood Magic, a type of sorcery that draws power from vampiric blood or blood in general. These mages have a wide range of abilities, but most of them morbid in nature and utilize magical blood as their weapon, with constructs or projectiles. They are charged with placing magical wards on New Bloods havens, fight magical threats or aid Thralls in dangerous daylight operations.
Vampire Freshbloods: Newly transformed vampiric childer of the Fullblooded. Despite being fledgings, they still possess enhanced strength and speed just slightly above the human peak along with rapid healing, as well as a thirst for blood and are able to grow fangs and claws. Most are made to keep their consciousness, serving as specialized footsoldiers for the gang's criminal activities at night. Others are turned rapidly and made to be vicious, wild monsters used as attack dogs in large groups for more outward or brutal confrontations, these are called Ferals.
Thralls: People under the magical influence and transformative properties of vampire blood. Thralls make up a majority of The New Bloods, and most of them are part of the gang facet of it, being mostly criminals and gangsters with somewhat enhanced physicality thanks to drinking the vampire blood that the New Bloods distribute among their ranks, just slightly below the human peak. Though not fully-fledged vampires, most Thralls do develop slightly sharper canines, and a faint sensitivity to sunlight and other vampire weaknesses.
Sunlight: All vampires under the New Bloods are very weak to the direct light of the sun. If a Freshblood is exposed to sunlight, they will hardly last more than a few seconds before catching fire and then be incinerated by it. A Fullblooded may last more, a minute at most, before likewise being burned to ashes. Thralls do not catch fire by sunlight and can operate during the day, but they are burned over long exposure, so they usually cover themselves with clothes. Artificial sunlight, such as direct UV Rays, is less effective, burning heavily but usually not incinerating vampires.
Silver: New Bloods vampires are also weak and susceptible to silver weaponry, be they blades or silver-tipped bullets. They nullify the rapid healing of the vampires and their durability for the most part. With Freshbloods dying to them as if they were normal bullets, and Fullbloods finding themselves taking increased damage as well.
Holy Power: While New Bloods vampires are not susceptible to holy symbols, save in cases where the wearer's faith is ironclad, they are weak to magic and powers that can be described as holy or divine. Holy water and powers of similar nature burn them only slightly less than sunlight burns them.
Others: Some fringe cases and bloodlines among the New Bloods might have special or distinct weaknesses different from the previously described. However, these are very rare and usually the result of an outsider joining in.
