The Lake Spire Building / Landmark in The Cinder | World Anvil

The Lake Spire

Rising from the center of The Great Lake this impressive spire dominates the view from all sides of the lake. When viewed from the North, it is possible to see a ragged edge on the eastern side of the spire, looking like ragged bones and girders sticking out at odd angles. The whole structure seems to have been constructed at an angle, leaning slightly towards the east. Around the structure, one can see creatures flying back and forth, diving towards the placid lake below and heading out towards the shores for their prey.   The spire seems to rise straight out of the water, with no island to support it. It is unclear how deep down it goes, how it holds itself up or how it was constructed in the first place.

Purpose / Function

While this monumental spire seems constructed, its purpose seems unclear and it is clearly uninhabited by all but the birds.   Back when the [Lizardfolk] were still residents of the lake area, it was seen as a cursed place. Feared and despised, none would go there. Their oral traditions (now recorded in the annals of the The Masters Disciples, spoke of dark creatures taking it as their home, using it as a maleficent beacon to gather at before striking at the villages and towns around the lake.

Architecture

From the lakeshore, it is impossible to tell what this building is made of, only that it is black and ragged in an unnatural manner. A few descriptions passed down from the [Lizardfolk] speaks of a sheen like that of metallic scales and a pinging sound like that of a starving hatchling.
