Mage Mind

As wielders of the acrance grow more powerful they become more susceptible to a condition know as Mage Mind. Mage Mind does not discriminate of how you cast your magic. Whether you are learned in the ways of the arcane or you are inherently gift in magic do to your bloodline Mage Mind can become a serious concern.

It is not fully known how or understood why Mage Mind attacks and deteriorates the minds of arcane casters. It has been

Treatment

Several divine healing spells are capable of slowing the progression of Mage Mind but until the recent discovery of a new genus of flower growing on the plains of Toroum there was no cure.

Prognosis

For ages the prognosis was grim for suffering through the downward spiral of Mage Mind. With minimal alternatives available many spellcasters succumbed to this effects of this mental disorder. Many forms of treatment had been tested with some slowing down the progression of Mage Mind but nothing to stop or reverse the disorder.

Prevention

Until recently the only means of prevention was for the afflicted party to stop using magic so the Mage Mind could not progress. Shortly after the liberation of Brisckarin the Eight Brothers and their servants began magically healing the continent of Toroum. They use both divine and arcane magics to achieve their goal. The continent was healing and flora and fauna was returning also. Several newly discovered undocumented flower began to grow on the plains. Over the course of the last five uears alchemist have been studying these flowers for potential uses. During the closing trials the alchemist discovered one of the flowers ability to reverse the effects of Mage Mind to the point where the test subject showed no significant signs at all.

History

The first suspected case of Mage Mind was the powerful wizard Merthraster, a founding memeber of the Society of Practitioners and the first High Practitioner. For much of Merthrasters life he was known for his calm demeanor and intellectual prowess. After the founding of the Society and taking the mantle of High Practitioner Merthraster began showing all the symptoms now know to be accociated with Mage Mind. Over time he fell victim to this mental disorder and became a person unrecognizable to those who loved him and knew him best.
