Tang Ibbleting

Fifteen years ago, Tang and his twin sister, Ring, came running into Kassen late one night. The caravan they'd been travelling with had been attacked and they were the only ones to escape the slaughter. The band of orcs and goblins that had committed the atrocity were hunted down and killed a few weeks later, but the two gnomes remained.   Tang is a member of the Ibbleting clan, an extended family of gnomes that can be found throughout the Inner Sea. Somewhat famed among gnomes, the family is known for artists and craftsmen. Tang is no exception. He is a glassblower. He and Ring stayed in Sandpoint for over three years, where he spent months learning the strange language of the Kaijitsu glassblowers and planning multiple break-ins into the Sandpoint Glassworks to watch Sandpoint's glassmakers and study their techniques. After being caught a fifth time, and swearing on his soul that he will never sell his glassware, he was sworn to secrecy and taught everything he could ever want to know.   Glassblowing is but a hobby to Tang. His true obsession is alchemy and the brewing of potions and potent liquors. The gnome has made a name for himself in Kassen as the best brewer in town, which had been a point of rivalry between he and Trelvar Silvers before the tragic deaths of Trelvar's wife and son last year. While the gnome is no stranger to loss, he cannot fathom the depths of Trelvar's grief and depression, and the two have grown distant over the long months since last winter. Unfortunately for Colbin Ventar, this has freed up considerable amounts of time for him to focus on the prank war he and his sister are waging against the guildmaster.   As a mentor, Tang is a patient teacher, which is fortunate given how quickly he talks when excited, and to him, everything dealing with alchemy is exciting. While he is careful to warn of the dangers inherit in the profession, he is fond of learning and discovery through experimentation, which leaves more timid students feeling overwhelmed and anxious more often than not.
