Hill Dwarf
Hill Dwarves live on the surface of Chronicle City, in Old Adage. They do not differ much from Mountain Dwarves in culture, beyond the fact that Hill Dwarves tend to have adapted to living outside of mountains their entire lives, and on the whole they tend to be the primary workers of agriculture, animal husbandry, and shipbuilding. But both types of Dwarves live in the same city together, and so they tend to have the same customs, and the same values.
Naming Traditions
Unisex names
Dwarven names tend to sound poetical, or are based around mythological figures from their history. A lot are rooted in literary terms, as well.
Family names
Dwarves have ancient lineages and belong to a House, and therefore tend to introduce themselves as: "___, of House ___." The firstborn child tends to keep the House name they were born into, as a way to continue the lineage. Non-firstborns tend to either start their own houses, or marry into someone else's house if they are marrying a firstborn. The rules get complicated when two firstborns marry each other, or two secondborns, for instance. Typically the head of the house defaults to the male, but oftentimes the male will choose to take his partner's House name if theirs is more prominent or successful.
Culture
Average technological level
The Dwarves are the most technologically advanced race in the world. They are known primarily for their stonework, both in terms of architecture, but also their elaborate and durable stone tools. However, they also have developed agriculture, shipbuilding, woolmaking, ropemaking, advanced architecture, and so on.
Common Dress code
Dwarves dress in wool and leather, and often incorporate gemstones into their dress, either through jewelry or woven into their clothing. They've also learned how to crudely dye their clothing, which the wealthier Dwarves use to show off their higher status.
Art & Architecture
Because of Dwarven geomancy magics, the most prominent type of art is sculpture. But there are plenty of artistic endeavors that incorporate geomancy, such jewelrycraft, stone architecture, even dwarven tools, weapons and armor are often considered to be aesthetically impressive. Inside the mountain, Chronicle City itself is an architectural marvel of stonecraft.
Historical figures
The Dwarves revere legendary heroes from their past, and their most prominent one is The Poet, a mythical warrior and leader of the Dwarves from thousands of years ago, who is said to have led the dwarves to victory in the hundred year war they call the Ode of Oblivion.
