Bane's Children
Among the many heroes in remembered history, Bane's Children is perhaps one of the most celebrated, and is best known for sealing away the Planes of Agony. This duo of outsiders is regularly depicted as a pale, white-haired woman with a golden hawk at her side, pitted against creatures of the Dark Tapestry.
History
In the early years of the Gap, when empires crumbled under the strain of their lost histories, an influx of evil outsiders flooded the Material Plane hoping to dine on mortals souls. The Thirteen Agonies -- a group of Dread Barons native to the Planes of Agony -- were of particular prominence, responsible for the deaths of thousands during their peak. This quickly caught the attention of numerous religious organizations in the galaxy, who banded together to crusade against the Dread Barons and their cultists. While records indicate there was some initial success in repelling the fiends, none possessed the ability to kill a Baron for good, and thus those that were defeated returned within just a few short years.
In 12 AG, cultists of an entity known as Ash were able to successfully summon their master in the skies above Cuvacara, who quickly took to destroying the settlement and feasting on its people. When all hope was lost, Bane's Children burst from a falling star, shrouded in a halo of radiant light, and bound the creature in place. Historical record explains that Ash's cultists attempted to free the Baron, but were reduced to dust when they tried, as if their master's powers had been turned against them. The rest were killed when Bane's Children then joined their powers, warping the Dread Baron's form and taking it into themselves -- in particular, the form of the Golden Seahawk Hannet, who bears the unique ability to contain the creatures within his own body.
At the time, the common folk did not even know the names of their saviors -- they left as quickly as they came, moving onto to the next of what would be a long list of Dread Barons. Over the next two centuries scholars watched as the creatures' malign influences suddenly vanished from the ether, reduced to nothing by Neiva's magic, and then gaoled inside Hannet's breast. Wither, the last remaining Lord of Agony, was captured in 247 AG, and with his "death" the Planes of Agony were sealed closed, and have been unreachable by the Lords' cultists ever since.
The duo was last seen in 253 AG, when they announced to the people of Absalom Station that the Thirteen Agonies were no more, as they had found a way to destroy all of the Lords captured inside of Hannet. Afterwards, they vanished without a trace, although stories of them are still shared around the fires of the civilized worlds.
