Shadow Peak Eagle
A rare hunter among the peaks, the Shadow Peak Eagle is a feared hunter of beasts and men.
Basic Information
Anatomy
It has a 40ft wingspan an adult weighs over 5 tons its body is 10ft long on average They are muscular and covered in feathers. Typically darker on top with lighter colors underneath, which is how they blend in with the sky making it possible to stalk their prey
Ecology and Habitats
It ranges across the Shadow Peaks. The younger ones stay toward the smaller plateau close to the shadowlands, and some venture down to the Emerald forest. The oldest battle for nests atop the tallest peaks.
Dietary Needs and Habits
They are bestial, but clever hunters. They learn to use the clouds to disguise themselves in the clouds, making it hard to see them despite their size. The younger members of the species hunt goats and can be dangerous to shepherds, both to their flocks and to the shepherds themselves. The fully mature, aged 50+, typically feed on ox and mammoth.
Biological Cycle
The Shadow Peak Eagle tends to be a solitary hunter. Once every 2 years they pair off to mate. Eggs take 6 months to hatch. The average nest has 2 eggs. They leave the nest after a further 12 months. They are fully mature at 20 years, but it usually takes around 40 to secure a peak of their own. They can live up to 100 years, although most do not reach their full age.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
They produce pellets like many birds of prey. These can be quite valuable as they can contain ivory and thick leather. It does, however, need a lot of processing to be useful.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Like all raptors it has amazing eyesight, and can see prey from 1000s of feet in the air. The largest also have tremor sense, thus it is very difficult to sneak up on the nests.
