King and Queen of Earth
The King and Queen of Earth were titles which existed for a relatively short time during the 4th dynasty of the Resource Management World Government.
Oddly, despite the trappings of monarchy, they were more democratic in many ways than the government itself. They represented twin poles of power designed to be worshipped by their subjects. The King and Queen were chosen for their physical beauty and could be replaced in periodic public polls at the climax of mass entertainment shows.
Although they were somewhat constrained in their operations by the government, and were often considered dispensable, they were not exactly puppets. The King and Queen had their own cadre of Zed Men and were able to exercise some control in the complex games of power that characterised politics under the confusing 4th dynasty constitution.
