The Church of Haven

The Human Pantheon is made up of a collection of deities that favor and protect humanity.
They are the dominant religion on Haven.

The pantheon is made up of the following deities: The individual gods that make up the pantheon have no strict hierarchy, they are mostly seen as equals by their worshipers.

Worship & Organization

The Worshipers of the Pantheon of Haven are part of a large organization. The organization is split into "branches", each dedicated to the woship of one of the member gods.
Each branch educates their own priests and elects their own patriarch (or matriarch), to act as head of the branch. They also maintain their own temples and monastaries.
All priests, irrespective of branch, are educated in the basic teachings of each deity that is part of the pantheon, so they may assist the common folk in the wide variety of circumstances life throws at them.

Church politics

While the branches of the church may appear unified from the outside, that is not so. There is fierce politicking between the individual branches of the church, as they compete over territory and influence.
However they also strive to provide a unified front to outsiders, so any threat to religion or the common folk will get the priests to put aside their differences.

History

Before the formation of the pantheon, the individual member gods and their mortal followers were in fierce competition or even open warfare with one-another.
This all ended with The Nightmare King's appearance during The Nightmare Wars.
This shocked and terrified the human gods, previously sure of the safety of their subjects and content to play their petty power-games through them, they were made aware that they were putting the very world of Haven at risk with their squabbles. So, in a very short time (by divine standards), they put their previous enmity aside and formed a unified front against the invading deity.

This alliance was sorely tested soon after, as Prometheus, one of the founding members, was defeated and devoured when he manifested in the mortal world during the final battle of the conflict.

The alliance however remained, and much later on Hermes joins the pantheon due to the large positive impact his worshipers have had in Gallica in particular, even though he is not of human origin.
