Shadowsteel

Shadowsteel is a dark combination of metallurgy and insidious sorcery, poisonous to humans.

Description:
In its material properties, shadowsteel seems identical to steel, though entirely black in color. Shadowsteel is poisonous to humans, short term exposure causes skin irritations and rashes, while long-term exposure drains the life-force of the afflicted. Introducing shadowsteel into the bloodstream is fatal after only a few days, if not treated.

Creation:
The Creation method of shadowsteel is a closely guarded secret by the fey. Shadowsteel is not found in nature, and very rare on Haven. Some Suggest it is found as an ore found in the Underfey or alternatively is magically transmuted iron. Speculations include that mundane iron ore is infused with negative energies in very specific proportions as to remain stable and remove the iron's detrimental properties, or even that shadowsteel is literal shadow beaten into physical shape. It is likely available at any Black market that regularly serves practitioners of black magic.

Use:
It is often used by the Denizens of the Underfey as a material for arms and armor. Despite its poisonous properties, it is not favored by assassins as it is neither fast-acting nor subtle enough.
Due to its ability to hold dark magic, Shadowsteel is a required component for dark mages looking to cast Curses, as well as other forms of dark magic.
