Slickbill
The Slickbill is a predator that stalks the polluted margins of the Blasted Isles—industrial ruins, brine-choked flats. and marshes of rot and decay. Its constantly weeping plumage exudes a black greasy substance that masks its scent, muffles its movement, and allows it to slip through even the tightest terrain like smoke through grating. Feared as omen-creatures and scavengers of the dead, Slickbills are difficult to tame—except by the filth-bound few who live as they do.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Slickbill is skeletal and wiry, standing two meters tall with gangly limbs and an elongated neck. Its beak is a serrated sickle of bone and its feathers are thin and hollow. Glands beneath its skin excrete perpetual grease, making it difficult to grasp and nearly silent in motion.
Ecology and Habitats
Slickbills favor areas heavy with ambient pollution. Their presence is considered by many to be a harbinger of toxic disaster, or evidence that such a disaster has occured.
Behaviour
Intelligent and unnerving, Slickbills stalk before they strike. They vocalize in low industrial whines, steam-hiss trills, and metallic clicks. Wild ones are solitary, but trained Slickbills imprint fiercely, often mimicking the gait, posture, or laugh of their handlers.
