Marl Virrel
(a.k.a. The Crank)
Marl Virrel, or "The Crank" as he's called by scavengers and workers in The Rustway, is a foreman of The Greasehands, tasked with supervising one of the Rustway’s largest scrap-processing hubs. Marl is both a tool and enforcer for the faction, embodying their brutal ethos with an iron-fisted rule. The Greasehands rely on him to ensure steady production of salvaged machinery and rudimentary gree-fueled tools, which are funneled to their allies throughout the industrial complexes of Awarth.
Marl’s authority stems not only from his role as foreman but also from his history as a vicious enforcer. He was promoted after years of breaking strikes, silencing dissidents, and intimidating rival factions. Now, Marl maintains control by cultivating an atmosphere of fear. He enforces harsh quotas, meting out "corrections" to workers who fall behind, and collects bribes from scavengers seeking access to workshop tools.
