Vernon Thorne
Vernon Thorne is the proprietor of a small shop that specializes in old rare books and miscellaneous occult items, called Thorne's Tomes and Talismans.
The store has actually been in his family for generations, having originally been located in England, until his grandfather, Rupert Thorne ,moved to Seattle in the early 1900s. Vernon's parents died when he was very young (probably under mysterious occult circumstances, we can build on this later) and he was raised by his grandfather. Vernon's upbringing included training in the occult, including dark magics and knowledge of the various creatures, etc out there.
Vernon eventually left home, and spent the '60s traveling around the country as a hippie, trying to ignore his family's dark past, but not managing to fully escape the pull of the occult.
In 1971, he received word that his grandfather had passed away, so he returned to Seattle to take care of his grandfather's estate, including taking over running the store. He lives in an apartment over the store. The store itself (with its backrooms and basement) is his Haven.
