Tensions rise in the Requian Coast, major factions are at each other's throats while each is being played by groups both secretive and criminal. These tensions suddenly burst when King Leigh II is assassinated, throwing the coast into a war with the Pirate Syndicate, distracting both their peoples from the terrifying and destructive forces of the Eldritch Storms which are being discovered to be more than they seem.
Once Sea's Appeal took control over the Requian Navy, they sent ships into restricted waters. The restricted waters were in reality the Pirate Syndicate's territory and this crossing of borders violated the peace treaty they made with the Requian Empire at the end of the Secret War during the Golden Age of Piracy. The War officially began once the Syndicate attacked the Merchant District of Seaview.
The second king of the cliffs is assassinated during a ball, leaving the throne to be with Sea's Appeal until his son comes of age.
