Witherspoon is generally described as creepy by most that spot her, most of her body hidden under her clothes in order to hide her bizarre appearance. The most she presents are the four horns curling out of her head

Layla would typically wear a purple and black cloak which she'd wrap around her body, as well as a veil to hide her eyes. She kept her holy symbol (an anhk and her phylactery) floating between her horns, proudly presenting her faith to Anubis despite the unfortunate views placed on him.

Personal history
Growing up in the endless caverns of the earthen realm wasn't easy on young Layla, the only comfort she found was in death and in the form of an occult deity named Anubis. Her worship is all she had left when her family disowned her for following that faith, but her admiration for Anubis protected her from dangers that lurked at every turn in her path. Anubis eventually brought her to complete several secretive alchemical and magical challenges that transformed her into a Lich. With newly found power in both divine favor and the magical arts, she was allowed to freely explore the cavern world without fear of the very thing she worshiped. Her luck changed when Anubis was killed, her power failed her and in grief, she was captured by alien-like creatures. These creatures would conduct experiments on her, using her regenerative properties to try again and again until they successfully turned her into a soul eater.

Motivation
Layla wanted to take revenge on Scias, the soul eater that killed Anubis. This gave her a reason to join Fate's Bane, who at the time of meeting her had already defeated Scias. However, they told her about Lady Fate who had tricked him into going after Anubis in the first place.
