The Bootstrappers earned their name honestly, rising from a handful of tanners and cobblers in the leatherworks of Marn to one of the most powerful families in Lestes. Forming more than 80% of the labor force in Marn, the sway they hold over the blue and black collar workers can be felt like a physical presence.
There are two major ideologies evident in The Bootstrappers. Firstly, their staunch supporters of worker's rights since the first Blackstone plant was built in Marn. Secondly, their early practice of firebombing storefronts and rival factories quickly cemented their reputation as more of a "mafia" than a union.
Today, the Bootstrappers have soup kitchens, housing, and factory holdings throughout the north, with their influence quickly expanding into the infant cities of the south. Train conductors, magewrights, factory workers, airship captains, dockworkers, and more can be found with a humble brass buckle on their person, a nod to their allegiance to the "people's family of Marn."
