Atlas Sector
The Atlas Sector is a region of space that includes the entirety of human civilization, as well as several alien civilizations. The sector became home to humanity after the Nemesis Crisis, which saw the Sol system thrown into deadly chaos by the passing of a rogue black hole. Humanity entered the sector via a mysterious wormhole, and has resided in the region ever since.
It was in the Atlas Sector that humanity discovered the phenomenon of Tachyon Streams, and from there developed the first Tachyon Drives to facilitate faster-than-light travel. Since then, Tachyon Highways have also been created to allow safer and more organized FTL travel within the sector.
With the existence of humanity in the sector came all of the political and social strife of old Earth, and as such, the sector has seen many conflicts since humanity arrived, although the sector's native inhabitants are no strangers to war themselves.
