Eternal Flame Crystals are a rare resource that was created by the god of fire Aiden as a way to produce endless warmth and protection to the peoples of the world.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Eternal Flame Crystals are considered highly dangerous to those not blessed by Aiden, they produce an almost unbearable heat to most people and have been known to burn limbs to ash in seconds when touched barehanded by the average person. However they can be be manipulated and collected by those with proper protective gear made of drake hide.
Despite it's name however there is one substance that is equally dangerous that is capable of rendering the crystal dormant. In addition the anger of the Astral Court can do the same thing.

Origin & Source

It is believed that the crystal was created by the god of fire, Aiden as a way to portect the peoples of the world from the wrath of Gentiana the goddess of ice. As well as to create the tools needed to survive during the world's darkest times, the First Astral War.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Eternal Flame Crystals are used both as a source of clean energy as well as for things such as cooking. With highly specialized training they are considered safe enough to be used as cook surfaces and are known to cook all foods to the perfect temperature in a few minutes. Making it a highly sought after resource for the best chefs of Aadimhor. They are also used as portable heaters and to make artificial hot springs in some cases. In addition their inherent glow makes them a wonderful lightsource that will never burn out.
The most well know use however is forging, there are very few Eternal Flame Forges left on the islands but those that do still exist are known to create the most masterful pieces. It takes a particularly skilled forgemaster to use the crystals in any capacity but those who run Eternal Flame Forges are considered the best of the best and highly sought after. They tend to be clan specific as well, in fact only one clan remains with the ability to use the forges at all.

Cultural Significance and Usage

The crystals are considered sacred to followers of Aiden and are used in many festivals and rituals related tto his worship and honoring him. In addition they are considered an especially precious resource that Aadimhor refuses to allow traded due to the religious importance as well as due to the inherent dangers of working with the crystals.
