Mishru

Mishru is the homeworld of the Sildor species, the first in the Arduria system to achieve spaceflight. Orbiting the star Makto, Mishru is a dry planet with few scattered lakes and seas dotting the global desert, with savannas around the bodies of water and forests nearest the poles. Mishru has no polar ice caps or oceans, though ice has been known to form on the tops of even comparatively short mountains, owing to the thin atmosphere. Mishru's equatorial latitudes are known as Kurak Insu (lit. "furnace lands"), an uninhabitable expanse of desert where summer temperatures can pass 65°C. Mishru has a surface gravity of 1.4G, an average surface temperature of 27°C, and an atmospheric pressure of 0.8 bar at sea level, making it hostile to most of the other peoples of the system. Mishru has a singular moon, Pellor.
Mishru's native intelligent species, the Sildors, are a species much like the other human species of the system, though shorter in height due to the higher gravity, with a slightly darker skin complexion and pointed ears. Their hair is naturally silver in color and individuals have a lower metabolism than the other human-descendant species of the Arduria system.
The Sildor civilizations were the first in the system to achieve spaceflight, doing so when the inhabitants of Tsavi had barely industrialized, and when those on Eridus and Diyan were in their iron and bronze ages, respectively. Slowly turning most of Mishru's surface into a web of interconnected urban areas, the Great Sildor Empire spread throughout the system. Eventually they made contact with the spacefaring empires of Tsavi and Eridus, though a bitter rivalry quickly ensued, eventually resulting in The Fall, as it is simply known, where all three civilizations had to retreat back to their homeworlds, cut off from their former colonies. In the subsequent centuries the Sildors of Mishru reunited as the Technocratic Union of Mishru, a planet-spanning nation with an almost religious pursuit of scientific and technological progress.
Many Sildor creation myths across Mishru describe the world as once being a lush paradise, which was split into different "islands" by the encroaching desert. Indeed there is scientific fact to back these stories up, as Mishru was likely a much wetter, greener world hundreds of thousands of years in the past, however its lack of a natural magnetic field (only a magnetic shield in the L1 point) has led to its atmosphere slowly being blown off by stellar winds. This combined with the geologically dead planet's inability to recycle CO2 into its crust led to the desertification we see today.
Mishru's geography, combined with early advances in aerospace technology, resulted in suborbital spacecraft becoming a common way to traverse the planet. This quickly evolved to orbital spacecraft, allowing the disparate Sildor kingdoms and city-states to colonize the system throughout the 1st millennium AF.

Ecosystem

The flora and fauna of Mishru largely resemble those from Earth's Permian and Triassic periods, with many adapted for the harsh deserts while others have specialized within the wetter regions, with rainforests even known to form around some of the equatorial seas. With the higher gravity, though a thicker atmosphere, large flying animals have adapted mainly to long distance gliding.
