Khur Village

Village | Northweyr Province

As KEEP KHURLEIGH was designed and built into the wilderlands and beyond the early borders of AUREDAIN, it was designed to be a defensive stronghold and so little effort was put into planning for a commoner or feudal population. The village has grown organically since the HONERA family moved their Seat of Authority to KHURLEIGH. It remains under the direct control of the HIGH LORD and there have been no major offices established within the large village. A small Village Council manages day-to-day disputes and administration to keep from becoming a drain on the Keep and the Honera forces. A reeve was appointed over twenty years ago to collect minor fees for market days and such but there is little true organization in the village. With the HIGH LORD looming over everyone’s shoulder, it has served everyone well to handle their own affairs and only bring in the hand of High Justice when it was truly warranted.

Infrastructure

Road and Trail Maintenance

One of the few planned improvements to the village was the establishment of proper roads through the village, the keep and beyond. The KEEP and village are at the crossroads of several important routes including the only 'safe' route to DYRAMAR KEEP,   As KHURLEIGH began to support pioneering homesteads to the north and west the need for a quality road network was a necessity for trade and security. The roads project was done over twenty years ago and involved a number of demolition of locals homes and storefronts. These inevitable relocations were given priority and some compensation to rebuild along the new road system. The HONERA line has been very responsible when it comes to the state of roads in the lands of their responsibility. The Reconquest requires coin and, without roads, the rich but distant trade goods from the wilderlands would have no market nor would settlers and subjects have access to fine goods from the Kingdom proper.
