History & Usage
History
While the Elrean fulgerites were widely known fo rtheir beauty Lilith's Tears remained undiscovered until the Sirens settled in the desert. For a time after their discovery they were considered too sacred for common use. This view changed only after one of the sirens was involved in a fight and a nearby fulgerite was struck by lightning and exploded killing the beast instantly. The sirens believed the lightning strike was no accident and believed Lilith had caused it to show them the glass's potential.
Discovery
Sirens, immune to the perils of the Elrean Desert, were the first to closely examine massive fulgerites that dotted the landscape. Only after beginning to work with the glass did they discover the diamond like cores they would later use to make weapons and jewelry.
Everyday use
Due to its strength, light-weight, and near invisibility, Lilith's Tears are most frequently sharpened to form weapons ranging from daggers to greatswords. Shards too small to use otherwise are gathered in the center of Elrea where the Sirens gather to worship Lilith.
Cultural Significance and Usage
To the Sirens, Lilith's Tears are sacred, the literal tears of the Dark Queen herself. As such the Sirens refuse to share the glass with outsiders. Some Temptest Glass weapons have made it into the hands of outsiders following attacks on the desert outskirts, however, those who plunder weapons from the sirens make themself a target of the Lilisian Temptest until that weapon has been recovered and the thief has been brought to justice.
