Saxtar's Lute

Written by Draagax

Troy walked out into the country and up on his usual spot on a hill overlooking the plains filled with animals of all kinds. He smiled as the sun began to set, amazed by the beauty of the universe. Taking his newest invention off his back, Troy looked down at it in his hands, wondering what he would call it. "I'll call it a lute," he said, "For the beauty of what is at it's core."
Saxtar's Lute is an artifact of great power and significance associated with Saxtar, the Goddess of speech, vows, oaths, poetry and music.
"I lived my life as if I'm silent, words cut deeper overall. But here I am, I got more speechless, speechless. Now you, too, are quiet and beautiful. Peaceful, beautiful world." -excerpt from Saint Troy's "Beautiful World"

History

Legend says that Saxtar heard the lute when it was first played and loved it so much she reached out and touched it to preserve it's beauty. The creator of the lute became the first bard and is now known as Saint Troy.

Significance

Some, but not all, Bards who pick up and play the Lute will feel Saxtar's power. But only Bards with an Aetherium Gem and knowledge of the Incantation school of magic, which draws on Saxtar's domain, may utilize it's power. The ability granted by Saxtar's Lute is the 'Fortify Word Heal' incantation, but it can only be used while playing the Lute and will extremely exhaust the user. The bard utters a word of power that can fully heal one creature, or other being, that they can see within range to be fully healed within seconds.

Nice article. I like the idea that the first lute created was blessed by a god. Also the Power Word Kill is a handy spell to be able to cast with it :p

Feel free to check my new world Terra Occidentalis if you want to see what I am up to!

Thanks! It fits well into my image of the magic system. 1. Drawing on the power of a deity and 2. exhausting the user. "mana" doesn't really exist in my world and this lute helps set the basis of magick causing physical fatigue ^.^
