SpaceCorp

SpaceCorp (Modern Artarian: NupiGiʐ), officially named the 'Trans-National Conglomerate of Space Corporations and Buisnesses' (transl. Hiwemoʐ Ʂit ʂa Nupiʐ χe Tunɾii ʂa Giʐ) is a megacorporation on the planet of Argo. It functions as a non-state management structure for both commercial and state actions in space, which includes resource mining, law enforcement and dozens of other actions. A complex institution, it has gone through many phases over the course of its existance, functioning first as solely a planning bureau, then as an executive organ of the international spacefaring community and later becoming ever more privatised, with it eventually becoming the largest corporate entity in the systems.

History

After the Second Trans-Argoan War of 115-128 SC, the Global Diplomatic Council was founded in the wake of the peace talks. Originally just an organ to enable easier diplomatic discourse through a centralised "grand consulate" where diplomats of all nations could easily and quickly access one another, it quickly grew into a treaty building organisation that would build the foundations of international law. After the Rejazi Moon Leaks of 141 SC, whereby a secret Rejazi lunar base was discovered, by the next year the GDC would ratify the Agreement on the Mandate of Space Neutrality, which states that no nation may lay claim to any land outside of Argo. It was simultanously decided that spacefaring would be organised from an international platform, a platform that in 145 SC realised as the Trans-National Conglomerate of Space Corporations and Businesses; SpaceCorp.

Assets

Being the sole owner of spaceborn assets, the assets SpaceCorp has accumulated over the centuries are vast. By the start of the 7th century SC, they 22 mining outposts, over 50 exo-planetary bases, thousands of cargo ships and a warfleet of a 180 ships of various classifications and over 800 IKIMs of various sizes for strategic deterrence. In total SpaceCorp is believed to be worth around 2.5 times the Argoan global GDP, making it by far the most powerful organisation in the systems.

Structure

Being a conglomerate megacorporation, SpaceCorp has many different constituent corporations that operate with a certain and to each corporation's own unique degree of autonomy. These corporations are generally split up into two larger categories, the "Crown Departments" and "Parallel Branches". The former of these consist of the departments of the company that are vital to its primary operations and function with more direct stewardship of the mother company, with its constituent parts in some cases functioning very closely to how ministries would in terrestrial governments. The latter category; the "Parallel Branches", form all companies and corporations that, although owned by SpaceCorp, function as semi-independent organisations, although they in all cases operate under joint-stock with the mother company.
