Proto-Arterian
Proto-Arterian is the oldest form of the Arterian languages that we know of. It served as the basis for most languages used by the Arterians.
After the migrations of the Arterians in the 4rd millenia BSC and the rise of their empire, the language over the course of that millenia split into North Arterian, South Arterian and Western Arterian respectively.Morphology
Most words in Proto-Arterian, like its successors, are formed from a root, a sequence of consonants with a general associated meaning. Roots are usually triconsonantal, with biconsonantal roots less common (depending on how some words are analyzed) and rare cases of quadri- and quinquiconsonantal roots. Roots are modified by affixation to form words. Verbal patterns are more productive and consistent, while noun patterns are less predictable.
