Viza'dain (Desert Elves)

The Viza'dain are Elves attuned to the desert and the way of life that is attached to this. They are commonly scaled with a variety of eye colors as well. They are taller and more masculine than most other elves as well, as they live in a desert they have somewhat of a society of strength revolving around an Alpha Male and his concubines. The females, however, are not bound by law to be slaves to the males in their society, in fact, Elven females are oftentimes warriors alongside the males.

    The Viza'dain as a race typically share the value of strength and fitness because of how harsh the deserts they live in are. They also value wealth because that is important to living a good life in the desert due to the mercenaries and landowners there.

    Common Etiquette rules

    The Viza'dain etiquette is fairly standard among nobility. As it is with the common folk, save for the fact it is commonplace to invite travelers into their home if they are in need of rest and provide them with a place to sleep, rest, and eat as the Viza'dain know how brutal the desert can be.

    Common Dress code

    There is no formal dress code for Viza'dain culture. Most people wear baggier pants and limited clothing overall due to how hot the desert is. Their armor is typically enchanted or has pads to keep them cool when they march to war, but even then supply for these suits is rather limited and most warriors prefer wearing little armor to allow their movement to be free and in general quicker without the heat.

    Art & Architecture

    Viza'dain are not typically artists in the regular sense as they do not paint nor draw much. Much of their 'artistic' ability is actually expressed in their architecture. The Viza'dain are known for building massive palaces with walls engraved with all sorts of depictions of figures, et cetera. They also create many statues to commemorate important figures in their history and family. Beyond that, their buildings are known for having a dome-like shape to them which causes them to be a thing of attractive for travelers as it is far more unique than most other parts of the world.

    Historical figures

    Shakrah - Shakrah is a Viza'dain Elf that had ascended to Godhood. He is tens of thousands of years old and was crowned to be one of the first Emperors of the combined Viza'dain peoples. After his term of ruling and just before his passing, he had uttered one last prayer to the sands to allow him to protect his people, and it had worked. He had become the God of the Sands to watch over his people as a result.

    Ideals

    Beauty Ideals

    The Viza'dain society values strength and fitness in their society as it is almost necessary for them. Especially since the harsh desert does not allow for them to be lax in keeping up their physical condition and and anyone who allows themselves to laze around are considered to be in the least ideal shape and are also found to be the least attractive.

    Gender Ideals

    In Viza'dain society there is not really a gender role society save for the fact that due to the females outnumbering the males, the Males are typically put into places of greater power than the females due to their importance in Viza'dain society. The Females and Males both however are seen as warriors and hunters in the society.

    Courtship Ideals

    In Viza'dain society a male can have upwards of 10 wives, the first wife is always deemed the Matriarch of the family and oversees household activities and the other wives as well. The first marriage for the Viza'dain is always the most important, typically very fancy and usually most people in the community attend as he is crowning his equal in the household. Not to say that the subsequent wives are less important, however, they fulfill a less powerful role in the household as the caretakers.

    Relationship Ideals

    The Viza'dain men are allowed to marry several women however it is completely outrageous for the women to marry or commit adultery. The females that are typically sought after are hard-working and fit due to the necessities of the desert. While males are oftentimes sought out to be strong and wealthy to be able to provide for his likely large family.
