Gravplating

"In the event of enemy invasion, increase grav output by ten. Martian battlesuits can handle the increase but rebel shins can't."   ~Martian Civil Defense Force Manual 184-2b, SOPS FOR DEFENSE AGAINST INVASION

Function

Gravplates use small colliders and graviton lenses to generate, focus, and ultimately draw back gravitons, effectively creating high intensity but localized gravity fields.

Utility

Gravplates are used in everything from starship deckplates to colonial streets on worlds and moons too deviant from Earth gravity for humans to live comfortably to miniatures inside of Gravitic Slingers and Fitch-Finnig Engines.

Manufacturing

Gravplates are assembled almost everywhere, by ever Gigacorporation, megacorporation, and many of the smaller corporations. There is always a demand for them, as not only do starships need them but they're also needed replacements in infrastructure for colonies across human space.

Social Impact

Gravplating has allowed humans to live and be comfortable on dozens of rocks in human space, if not hundreds when one considers the illegal homesteads in the asteroid and Kuiper belts and the Oort cloud, the most notorious of these being the pirate base on Bernardinelli-Bernstein.
