Oprada
Oprada is the capital city of the Kingdom of Chuvia. It is a large city on the north coast, and functions as an important trade port with other cities on the coast, as well as trading with the Grand Duchy of Ribi across the Ocean of Brightsard.
Demographics
As with the rest of the kingdom, a majority Oprada are humans (37%), however there is a sizeable population of Halflings (13.2%), elves (18%), and dwarves (14.5%). There are smaller populations of other species, such as gnomes, orcs, and goblins.
Districts
There are 13 districts in Oprada:
Palace Ward
Located to the north of the palace gate, this is a middle class area.
Ivy Ferry
Named after a ship that sank many centuries ago, this district is where the north harbour is located, and contains lots of warehouses. Recently one of the labouring companies based here was involved in a scandal involving body snatching and necromancy.
Docks Ward
The south harbour is located here, and is often used for transport vessels by the nobility, and any private trading vessels.
Old Oprada
So named as some of the buildings in this district are more than a few centuries old, however many have been pulled down due to being unsafe. This area tends towards the middle-class in terms of pricing.
Kings Gate
This district surrounds the south-west gate into the city walls, and is notable for being the residence of many of the upper and noble classes.
Westgate
To the west of the palace and Docks Ward, this district surrounds the west gate and follows the road to the west along the coast.
Beerwharf
Comprising of much of the city to the north of the river, Beerwharf is named for the many breweries that once drew water from the river along from the city wall.
Northcoast
Lying along the north wall, Northcoast is home to many fishermen, whose boats litter the beach to the west of this district.
Trongate
Named after the communal tron at the south gate, this district lies to the immedieate south of the south city gate.
Eastwharf
Lying to the south of the city wall and on the east bank of the river, Eastwharf is a common destination of those who want to transport goods up river. However, the poorer housing in this region do not always reflect the prices on the cargo that briefly passes through.
Narrowbridge
Surrounding the southern bridge, and the southbound road, Narrowbridge often provides accomidation to travellers, and is the first part of the city that many see. This is where one may go to find cheap lodging, and cheap goods.
Orchard Bank
On the east bank of the river, Orchard Bank is home to many of the orchards near the city to produce the wine often enjoyed in some of the cities more upmarket taverns (not that any of the farmers in this district could afford them).
Sunrise
A optimistic name for this area of the city, Sunrise is far from being a prosperous area, with many gangs basing themselves here.
