The common folk believe magic is real, but on a Meta level we know that "magic" is carried out by nano-sized bots in the atmosphere, this layer in which these tiny, unobserved, bots exist on the planetary scale is called the "Nanosphere" on a Meta level. Almost no one knows the true scale, nor nature of how this "magic" is performed.
Cosmology
8 other "worlds" have fallen before this one. We are around the year 1,000,000,000, and the planet Earth has gone through it, to say the least. 8 apocalypses, the fall of 8 great, global, civilizations of Humanity, and now here you are: just another lost soul among the millions who survive. Most people don't even know that not long ago, humanity was great, now they just wallow about in the rubble, looking for scraps of the greatness that once, or octagonalice, existed.
Principal Geography & Features
The subcontinent of Crux is a peninsula, where the weather is great and stable. However, just over the Pavas Mountains, is a great wasteland known as The Collapse. Directly past the Pavas Wall, which guards the only pass through the Pavas Mountains into the Collapse, the terrain turns to a blasted fiery hellhole, almost literally, as it appears to be a crater that goes on beyond the eye can see. You can look out over The Collapse and see perpetual wildfires, monstrous creatures, and hostile terrain that even the bravest dare not tread, as no one has ever returned from an excursion into The Collapse.
Initial Active Setting
We'll be starting inside the City of Colremn, the seat of power on the sub-continent of Crux.
