Thoon Illithid Supremacy

Often abbreviated to the Supremacy, the Thoon Illithid Supremacy is the central government that runs Thauzuassk. While it is headed by Zellix'Phor, more often than not Meropians only see the four "ministers" as the heads of state- Tharcereli, Druskis, Thiliossk, and Luzgrigaul.

Structure

Zellix'Phor

The head of the Supremacy is the Grand Elder Brain, Zellix'Phor. While it has complete executive control over the Supremacy, the elder brain often delegates tasks to its mind flayer attendants. While Zellix'Phor's mind flayer troupe has grown quite large over the many years of ruling Thauzuassk, there are a group of four who make up a council that Zellix'Phor trusts the most.

Druskis

Often regarded as the elder brain's right-hand-illithid, Druskis acts as a representative of Zellix'Phor himself. It is a rare occurrence that the elder brain must make a public appearance, so Druskis goes out in its stead to commune with the lesser members of the mind flayer society. Druskis is well-known among the people of Thauzuassk due to how often he gives public speeches and other formal events.

Tharcereli

The commander and admiral of the mind flayer military force, Tharcereli is the second best known illithid of the Supremacy. Although they makes much less public appearances than Druskis, the public has been familiarized with them through the many statues and memorials created to honor his vital work in the mind flayer invasion. Occasionally he will make public speeches, which are typically just threats against anyone who might be thinking of resisting the Supremacy's control.

Luzgrigaul

While definitely not a public speaker, one may have heard of Luzgrigaul as the genius behind many of the mind flayers' incredibly advanced technology. They are often referred to by their colleague Tharcereli, as they work close together. Luzgrigaul is also well-known among laborers who serve the mind flayers in the construction of whatever it is they demand.

Thiliossk

The least known of Zellix'Phor's council, Thiliossk shuns publicity and embraces secrecy. Thiliossk is a mad scientist, and a devilish one at that. No one really knows what it is they do, but their name has reached the streets through all manner of rumors and speculation. Carriages will often travel down the busy streets of cities like Falstaff and order nearby civilians to stop what they're doing, leaving everything behind to come with them. Who knows what fate awaits them?

Thoon Officers

Similar to a lord of a castle, Thoon Officers are assigned to cities or towns to oversee it. Thoon officers are often well-known and treated with great respect by locals, mainly out of fear of getting on their bad side.

Public Agenda

The Supremacy's goals aren't entirely clear. On the one hand, they work hard to maintain a semblance of society for the Meropian people, while on the other they appear to care very little about them. The illithids don't hide the fact that they devour brains. The Meropian people are like cattle to mind flayers- why go to so much effort to allow them to maintain their own lives?   The Supremacy is also rather militaristic in its ideals- a common propaganda spread amongst the people is that "The Gith are coming". One day, the Gith will come and attempt to strike down the mind flayers here, and once there are no mind flayers left, they will raid the people of Merope and leave them nothing but scraps- the illithids are the only defense that the people have. As such, much of Falstaff and the other large cities of Thauzuassk have been heavily fortified against future invasion. With this in mind, the mind flayers have managed to convince the people across Thauzuassk to cooperate with them in order to prepare for such an event.

History

The Supremacy was instated immediately after the Meropian Kingdom's armies were defeated. While technically the Supremacy had existed long before arriving on Merope, it was formerly just known to be another colony of mind flayers without a formal name. It remains unclear how a mind flayer colony could amass so much military power without being squashed by Gith hunters.
