He loves Zoya. In prequel novel, he has a crush on her. By the time we get to Book One, he's quietly swapped himself out so that he could be with her. Taking her on her terms. He's a Darostrate tech, working with that office.

He's not naive. He sees the system as flawed but that it does keep people safe. But he also loves Zoya dearly, and he wants to be with her. So he's lawful, and he's in love, and he also wants to find the truth. He's a curious guy.
Had a different job initially but when someone with better qualifications was evocated he was bumped down. He was nice about it, though, and seems to prefer working with the Darostrate. Kept asking Zoya for help, which gave her the impression he was incompetent, but he mostly did it to spend time with her.
A bit of a conspiracy theorist and a rebel, albeit a cheerful one. Dislikes being monitored and wants more freedom for people. Libertarian, approximately.
Is a decent cook and has an apartment big enough to hold himself and 3 guests reasonably for 10 days.
Is a bit annoying with his chipper attitude but is self-aware of this fact. Likes investigating things and learning about the world around him. He wants to know more about the past, rather like Brenna.
Explains things, but is used to people cutting him off before he can tell them what he learned through deep dives of the system.
Assigned fiancee is Abhicandra Byun-Chun. He doesn't love her, and their pairing was decided by his parents, who chose to get the marriage assigned while he was still a teenager, so that he wouldn't have the chance to "make mistakes."
