Church of Courage
Divine Origins
The Church of Courage originated from a dyad between Helm and Torm, two lawful gods dedicated to the protection of others. Helm is dedicated to the protection of all, and Torm is the god of courage and self-sacrifice, and their union is considered one of the greatest divine unions to protect denizens of Teurram from the evil lurking outside civilization's walls.
Tenets of Faith
They idealize any act of self-sacrifice and believe it is the duty of the strong and able to protect the weak. In that same vein, it is also considered inappropriate to show fear or weakness at any time, publicly or privately, as admitting fear is considered a weakness in your mental and emotional defenses.
Ethics
The most questionable action these clerics can take is whether resurrection is appropriate or not. For instance, those who die of natural causes at the end of a typical life-span are typically refused the rite of resurrection. In reality, resurrection services are very rarely performed. There are really only a handful of recorded cases of those still living in Salthis, and all of them experienced what all agreed was an early, undeserving death. What's more is that those who were resurrected were considered great protectorates or courageous individuals - those are the criteria to receive resurrection from the Church of Courage.
Worship
The majority of worshippers are those who find themselves in protectorate or guard roles. Many of the guard of Salthis receive a blessing from the Intrepid before taking their official post, and it is required that all the griffon knights of Salthis pass an interview with the Intrepid himself.
Priesthood
The Church of Courage is led by a man named Todrick Fain, who is known as the Intrepid. Other clerics of this church are known as Clerics of Courage, and other ministers are referred to with the typical terms, such as priest.
Granted Divine Powers
High ranking clerics of the Church of Cleric are highly respected not only for their life healing abilities, but also their protective magics, and in rare cases, their ability to resurrect souls lost too soon.
Political Influence & Intrigue
Outside of their influence on local guard and militant groups, the Church of Courage is not typically involved in politics and policy making.
