General Information:
Archetype and Culture: Discount Spanish and Portuguese. A culture of expert naval builders, navigators, and warriors. The Natinalians have a deep-seated passion for exploration and the spreading of their holy worship of Addus, the god they believe to be the most powerful deity and only "good" deity, who defeated Martius and saved the world with nothing but his wit and intellect. They are a proud and zealous people, with an unshakable faith in their cause. At the heart of their culture is the worship of Addus. The Natinalians believe that their god is the only one who can lead them to victory against their enemies, and they are devoted fully and zealously to ensuring the worship of their god alone. To that end, they have a powerful inquisition of spellcasters who work tirelessly to root out any trace of heresy or dissent. They believe that the spread of their religion is the key to their success, and they will stop at nothing to ensure that their message is heard around the world, not just in Europa. Natinal's vast and still growing colonial empire is a testament to their ambition and determination. They have colonies scattered across the world, and they use their land and manpower to fuel their rapidly expanding colonial enterprise. The Natinalians are skilled traders, able to leverage their vast network of ports and trade routes to accumulate wealth and influence. Their cities are bustling hubs of commerce, with goods and people flowing in and out at all hours. Despite their focus on conquest and expansion, the Natinalians are also known for their rich cultural heritage. They are a people of great artistic and literary traditions, with a deep appreciation for music, dance, and storytelling. Their cities are adorned with ornate sculptures, stunning architecture, and colorful festivals, reflecting the diversity and vibrancy of their culture. They have begun adapting and incorporating the cultures of their colonies into their society as well, with unique and exotic peoples coming from their colonies to settle in the heart of the empire, this has made Natinal the fastest growing power in Europa, with Castone and many of its heathen neighbors starting to worry that its rapid expansion across the world will one day cause it to turn its eyes back to Europa.History: Natinal has a long and varied history, beginning as a vassal state under the elven empire during the Age of Apostasy. While halflings were allowed to live peacefully under elven rule, the gnomes began stockpiling weapons and remained hidden until the Devastation. During the Devastation, Natinal's land was turned into a battleground as human slaves rose up against their oppressors, with halflings aiding the humans and gnomes providing weapons. The elves responded with brutal force, leaving Natinal devastated and largely destroyed. However, the people of Natinal persevered, and during the Age of Armistice, they worked to rebuild their shattered nation with the help of human freedom fighters and the guilt-ridden gnomes. With the rise of Astrasan, the Inquisition of Addus was founded, and campaigns were launched to drive the godless star-worshippers back into their lands. Natinal eventually rebuilt itself and became a major naval power, repelling a new Jihad from Astrasan and founding colonies all over the world. In the current age, Natinal stands as a formidable power in Europa, with an unmatched navy and vast colonial empire. Their inquisition of Addus remains a powerful force, fiercely protecting their state religion and spreading it across the world. Despite the envy and fear their rise to power has caused, Natinal continues to grow at an exponential rate, with a focus on exploration and spreading the word of Addus.
Client Race: Halflings and Gnomes are two of the most prominent races in Natinal. Before the devastation, this was their homeland where they lived as vassals of the elven empire. Halflings were content to live under the rule of the Elves, and they did their best to keep their heads down and avoid the chaos around them. On the other hand, the Gnomes were hidden from the world, with only Addus, Martius, and his human freedom fighters knowing of their existence, they used this secrecy to provide weapons and aid the humans in their fight. Despite their different approaches, both races were affected by the devastation, and their lives were forever changed. During the war, the Gnomes aided humanity by creating powerful weapons that were able to destroy their elven oppressors. However, this led to an uneasy relationship between the Halflings and Gnomes, with the former viewing the latter with a mix of suspicion and fear due to the destructive power of their inventions. In contrast, the Gnomes seek to continue their inventions and regain the level of technology they lost during the devastation, but without the militaristic and destructive bent. They seek to use their knowledge for the betterment of society and to aid in the spreading of their faith, even if their halfling brothers dont believe them, though they still long to join with their halflings brothers regardless. In terms of culture, Halflings are known for their love of food, family, and community. They take pride in their agricultural heritage and are expert farmers, growing crops and raising livestock that are the envy of the world. Their villages are often adorned with beautiful gardens, and their homes are welcoming and hospitable. Halflings also love music and storytelling, and they often gather around a fire to share tales of heroism and adventure. On the other hand, Gnomes are known for their love of invention and innovation. They are expert engineers, inventors, and tinkerers, always seeking to push the boundaries of what is possible. They value knowledge and education, and their cities are often centers of learning and research. They have a deep appreciation for the natural world, and many Gnomes are avid naturalists and conservationists. They also have a great love of art, particularly sculpture and painting, and their cities are adorned with beautiful works of art. Despite their focus on innovation and technology, Gnomes also value family and community, and their homes are warm and welcoming. As many can see, the two races are more similar than they are different, and so despite their few differences, gnomes and halflings are often surprised by how much they have in common and under the protection of Natinal have begun to integrate with one another like never before.
Leader: Reginald McGucket always knew he wanted to sail, he left his home at a young age with the permission of his parents to sign aboard a ship as a cabin boy where he served for a decade in the original war against Astrasan. Upon the war's end with all of Natinal united once more, he rose to become captain of his own ship and set off to find new lands to colonize. However, despite his skills and the many upgrades he made to his ship that were passed around the fleet, his ship was soon wrecked in a storm and he was left trapped on a deserted island all alone. Reginald doesn't talk about how he escaped, but rumors abound that it was Nautila who kept him company, kept him safe, and eventually set him free from her island for some unknown reason. Whatever it was that happened, Reginald returned and soon joined in with the Heroes of Europa as they were chartering a ship for their travels, he stayed with them all the way to Dread Harbor where he helped defeat Martius and was rewarded for his troubles by being given control of Natinal itself. He has taken to this job with purpose and has set about reforming the laws to prioritize fairness above all else. He is widely beloved by his people though rarely seen as most of his days are spent in his throne room working and writing all in an effort to make Natinal better as best he knows how.
Source of Power: Natinal's naval power is unmatched across Europa, across the entire world, thanks to their expertise in shipbuilding and navigation. They have built state-of-the-art ships that can travel long distances and defeat multiple enemy vessels at once. With resources gained from their many colonies, they have more ships than any other nation on the continent. This naval supremacy allows them to spread the worship of Addus far and wide, ferrying back people, ideas, and riches from their far-flung colonies. It took Natinal many years to gain this naval power, but now that they have it, they are growing at an exponential rate. They use their navy to expand their empire, preaching the word of Addus wherever they go. Their colonies, spread out across the globe, serve as sources of manpower, resources, and ideas that fuel Natinal's growth. While the gnomes have played an important role in Natinal's rise to power, it is the navy that truly sets them apart from their rivals. The gnomes, with their expertise in invention and technology, have given Natinal powerful weapons and tools that have helped them in their conquests. However, it is the navy that has allowed Natinal to project their power far beyond their borders and become a major and rapidly growing force in Europa.
Religion: The worship of Addus is deeply ingrained in the culture and society of Natinal. They believe that Addus is the one true god, the only deity who defeated Martius and saved the world from destruction. They view him as a savior, a being of great intelligence and cunning who outsmarted the other gods and defeated Martius with his wits. Natinalians believe that by following Addus and spreading his word, they can ensure that Martius never rises again and that the world remains safe. The state religion of Natinal is enforced with great rigor, and any other religion or practice is not tolerated. The inquisitors of Natinal are feared and respected, tasked with rooting out any heretics or non-believers who threaten the worship of Addus. While some may argue that the use of violence and intimidation goes against the teachings of Addus, the majority of Natinalians see it as necessary to protect their way of life and ensure the supremacy of their god. The worship of Addus is not limited to Natinal alone, however. Through their vast colonial empire and naval power, they have spread the religion to many other lands, often using force if necessary. The message of Addus is preached far and wide, and his followers can be found in many parts of the world. The Natinalians believe that this spreading of the word of Addus is not only their duty, but also their greatest weapon against the forces of Martius and other god, who they believe will never rise again as long as Addus is worshipped and revered. However, a growing cult among sailors has come to worship a new Goddess instead, that being Nautila, a powerful and enchanting siren who uses her song to guide the ships of those who worship her to safety or new shores, and to drown the ships of those who blaspheme against her. This "cult" is heavily discouraged to the point of the inquisition often having to get involved but when sailors are alone on the open ocean with nothing but Nautila's voice to keep them company, even the staunchest of Addus worshippers finds it hard not to at least take comfort in her song.
Capital: The capital city of Natinal, known as Madrigal , is a stunning example of Natinal architecture and design. The city is located on a series of hills, with the central hill being the highest and crowned with the cathedral of Addus. The cathedral is a massive structure, made of white stone and featuring numerous towers and turrets that reach towards the sky. The walls surrounding it are equally impressive, rising high into the air and featuring decorative carvings and intricate designs. The rest of the city is equally impressive, with wide streets lined with shops and bustling marketplaces. The architecture of the city is a blend of various styles, reflecting the diverse cultures that make up the empire. The buildings are made of a variety of materials, including wood, stone, and mud brick, with intricate carvings and decorative elements adorning many of the structures. However all of this is just the tip of the iceberg, many argue that the real impressive parts of the city all lie underground, where the halflings and gnomes live in a massive city for ones so little, the tunnels they use are just big enough for humans to squeeze through but the discomfort in doing so leads few to ever bother. This makes the undercity of Madrigal the largest non-human settlement in Europa. It is here the halfling and gnome cultures clash and unite to bring about a reunion of their two races.
History of Natinal:
The Age of Apostasy: During the Age of Apostasy, Natinal was known as a vassal of the elven empire, where halflings were allowed to live under their rule. Unlike the other races, halflings were not enslaved or subjected to cruel treatment as they were deemed to be too silly and cute to be bothered with. The gnomes, on the other hand, remained hidden from everyone except for Martius, Addus, and the human revolutionaries. They began stockpiling weapons in preparation for the devastation that was to come, which they would later give to the humans. Despite the growing godlessness, the halflings and gnomes never lost faith in Addus. They continued to pray to him often and revere him in their daily lives, perhaps seeing him as a beacon of hope and stability in the face of the reality of their weak nation. Additionally, both races took it upon themselves to aid escaped human slaves, providing them with a safe haven and protection from their masters. These humans, who grew up in Natinal and were shown kindness and compassion, never forgot what was done for them and held the halflings and gnomes in high regard. Overall, Natinal's role during the Age of Apostasy was that of a vassal state, with the halflings living peacefully under the rule of the elves and the gnomes remaining hidden and preparing for the devastation. While the majority of the races and empires of the time were focused on their own power and glory, the halflings and gnomes remained faithful to Addus and showed compassion towards escaped human slaves. The Devastation: During the Devastation, Natinal saw its once peaceful land turned into a battleground as the human slaves rose up and marched off to fight for their freedom. The halflings, who had sheltered and protected the humans for so long, were deeply saddened to watch them go, but some among their kind, feeling a sense of kinship with the humans, joined them in their fight. Their small size and stealthy nature made them excellent spies, able to gather information on the enemy without being detected. The gnomes, who had remained hidden until now, finally revealed themselves to the world and shared their stockpile of powerful weapons with the humans. These weapons proved instrumental in breaking the elven hold on their people and dismantling the system of slavery that had kept them oppressed for so long. However, this newfound strength did not go unnoticed by the elves, who responded with brutal force, raining down fire and destruction upon Natinal. In the end, Natinal was left devastated, its once lush forests and grasslands reduced to a barren, hilly desert. The halflings, who had simply wanted to live in peace, were largely destroyed by the elven onslaught. The gnomes, however, were largely unscathed, hiding underground and continuing to work on their inventions. Despite the devastation, the people of Natinal persevered, and from the ashes of their former home, they began to rebuild.
The Age of Armistice: During the Age of Armistice, Natinal was in a state of rebuilding after the devastating war. The human freedom fighters returned to their homeland and worked with the halflings to rebuild their shattered nation. Meanwhile, the gnomes felt guilt for the death and destruction that was unleashed on the halflings by the elves who were targeting them. In an effort to make amends, the gnomes threw themselves into the task of rebuilding and reconstruction. However, their efforts were threatened by the rising power of Astrasan, which soon occupied up to half of their nation. It was at this point that the Inquisition of Addus was founded, and with the help of Rommaco, they launched several campaigns to drive the godless star-worshippers from their lands and back into Astrasan. Natinal eventually rebuilt itself and became a major naval power. When Rommaco fell out of power, it was Natinal alone who repelled a new Jihad from Astrasan using their smaller but superior ships. This started the long tradition of naval supremacy that Natinal now exercises today. With their powerful navy, they were able to break the Astrasan fleet and reach out to found colonies all over the world. Today, Natinal is the fastest-growing empire in Europa, with their vast array of colonies and their focus on spreading the worship of Addus.
The Year 539AD: In the current age, Natinal stands as a formidable power in Europa, surpassing many other nations in growth but not yet power. Their navy is unmatched, with their superior ships being the envy of all other nations, rumored to be able to defeat even the deadliest of sea monsters and withstand the fiercest of storms. This naval supremacy allows them to maintain their vast colonial empire, bringing in wealth, resources, and manpower to fuel their rapidly expanding nation. Their inquisition of Addus remains a powerful force, fiercely protecting their state religion and spreading it across the world. When Martius rose up, it was Natinal who answered the call to battle first. They sent their ships out to gather as many fighters as they could from their colonies, and their diplomats worked tirelessly to unite the other nations of Europa against the threat. The Natinal fleet made up the bulk of the ships that carried the army to the shores of the dread harbor, where they did battle with the cultist ships and kept them from escaping while other nations and Natinal's colonial conscripts fought and died on the shore. This great aid given by Natinal has not gone unnoticed by other nations, who now view them as a growing threat to their own power. Despite the envy and fear that Natinal's rise to power has caused, they continue to grow at an exponential rate. Their colonies have become melting pots of cultures, bringing together people from all over the world to exchange ideas and resources. Natinal's focus on exploration and spreading the word of Addus has allowed them to discover new lands and peoples, expanding their influence and wealth even further. The nation has become a beacon of knowledge and power, with the most advanced technology and knowledge of the arcane arts being held by their gnomish inventors. Despite their bright future, shadows remain ahead of them, namely what the other nations might due to curb their power, Astrasan is powerful, and Rommaco is having growing pains as they press their borders against Natinal's, both nations prove a threat to the still small naval power but these problems are held back for now by the heroes who now rule these nations.
