Tuundet

The Kingdom of Tuundet (or Tündet) is a landlocked vassal state of the Berytusian Empire located in the Pelagasian Peninsula, surrounded on three sides by the province of Pelagasia and to the north by Rommark. It is geographically separated from the surrounding regions by the Tuundet Mountains, and is marked by the Valley of the Eldres, which contains the vast majority of the population. Tuundet is the only region in the world with a majority Amellion population, having been present in the area since the Decline of the Saura c. 25,000 AB.
Tuundet existed as a duchy of the human Kingdom of Pelagasia from 7500 AB until the Conquest of Pelagasia by the Berytusian Empire in 17 IB. The Duke of Tuundet at the time, Ymir XII, converted to Emuna voluntarily and was rewarded with the title king by Acacius. From 17 IB until 731 Tuundet was a tributary of the Imperion. The governor of Pelagasia at the time launched a military invasion of Tuundet, annexing the province in 731 and triggering the Amellion Revolt (731–840). Though Berytus recognized the annexation at first, this policy was reversed in 803, and the rebel Amellions obtained rule again in 817. After making peace with Emperor Ayen in 840, the ancient rights of the kingdom were restored, and it has maintained autonomy to the present.
The population is nearly exclusively elvish (over 97%), but a small number of human and Zwergin transplants live in the country. Tuundet was always more sympathetic to the mystical traditions of Eastern Emuna, but during the Amellion Revolt large numbers of the population joined the Amellion Particular Kirk, which is in communion with the Haugrkirk Emuna. After the end of the war they largely reverted to the Imperial See, but about 30% of the population remains part of the Haugrkirk. The most common language is Tundic, an Amellionic language related to Old Berytusian.
