The First Crusade

The Great Crusade, and an Age of Blood

The Conflict

Prelude

It is said the crusade was caused by a series of terrible raids by Tajiran backed corsairs. They would steal thousands upon thousands in trade goods and also launched a lightning sacking of the city of Stillport in Ashenfeld. They would take many captives and also many religious artifacts. This would cause whispers that the Church of the Flame was weak amongst some of the populace. While raids like this typically only result in minor retaliatory raids in return, the Church would step directly in and start stoking the fires of vengeance in the people. With this, many would sign on to join as crusaders, and much of the vassals would donate funds and their troops to the cause, and before long, an entire crusade force would sail to the blazing deserts of Carall   Tajir to this day, maintains its innocence.

Deployment

Much of the Crusades forces would land at the port of Ar Radinah, and then would sack the city before advancing deeper into Tajir. Much of the pace would be set as the crusaders marched uder the brutal sun to the city of Miraca.   Tajiran forces would be at first spread out and dsiorganized, but after the Sultans would realzie the size of the force invading their lands, they would unify more effectively and stand together against the invaders

Conditions

For the Tajir, this was a desperate battle against foreign invasion, and so would fight bitterly for every inch of ground. For the Crusaders, the conditions were brutal as they were not used to fighting under the blazing desert sun in heavy armor, and had to constantly wait for water supplies to reach the advancing armies. Looting and pillaging were quite common.

The Engagement

Much of the fighting would be done either in great fields of sand, and in the many cities. Raids from nomad tribes were also common. Much of the fighting was horrifically brutal, and the worst of all was in the holy city of Miraca, where after a fierce and prolonged siege the crusaders would break into the city and pillage and loot it, razing much of the city to the ground.

Outcome

Majority of the crusading force would retire after the final siege of Miraca, however a few forces did stay behind and establish holy orders scattered around Tajir.

Aftermath

The devestation and chaos caused by the Crusade directly led into the holy prophet finding the faith of Arkka, and helped reunify Tajir after its lowest point. Though Tajir was bloodied, it was not broken, and would rise stronger then ever. The Church of the Flame meanwhile, used this crusade to reestablish its supremacy within Nilush, and as such they would launch other crusades across the years for a variety of threats.

Historical Significance

Legacy

To the Church, they hold it as one of their finest moments, and a time when the true faith of the world triumphed over base greed and paganistic ideals, to the Tajir, it is but a grim reminder of the hardships they must endure to live on the dreaded sands of Carall.
