Clan Strigorn
Of all the terrible fates that befall the souls of those cursed with vampirism, none are more horrid than those of the Strigorn. So terrible is the curse that many are at first mistaken for mutated ghouls, but they are something far worse. Within every vampire lies a beast, a predator of unfathomable hunger, just scratching at the walls. While the other vampires drape themselves in fine clothes and masks of civility, the beast is still present deep within their soul. To fully embrace the beast is to become a mutated beast, barely any more sentient than a sheep. However, one strain of vampirism dances on the edge of beast and man like a macabre opera, thus the beings of the Strigorn Clan come into being.
For their origins, sadly, much is not known. Some believe perhaps they were the result of experiments done by wizards with vampires and ghouls, due to the similar nature of appearance they share. Others believe the gods cursed them this way, having committed some crime that made them even more detestable than their other vampiric kin. Some stories even tell of it being a divine punishment for having loved an angel as a mortal, only to be cursed with a countenance so horrific that even the angels would weep upon seeing him. Some also say perhaps a starving madman cannibalized the body of a paralyzed vampire and became the progenitor of this detestable strain. Regardless of origin, the results are monsters that possess the endless, maddening thirst of the vampire with none of the grace. The only consistent fact of the Strigorn is that their progenitor wielded the name of Sandor.
Though they can be the weakest of their kind, make no mistake that they are still the apex predators of the night. They are scattered and disorganized, but some still stand out in the midnight aristocracy. Driven half insane (or fully in a lot of cases) by their affliction, they are unpredictable, feral, and dangerous in the extreme. They know nothing of restraint, and will do everything they can to kill and feed on the blood of the innocent.
Culture
Just from observation, it is obvious the Strigorn are cursed indeed. They all generally look horrific in countenance and are generally feral. Though there are always exceptions of course, the consistent nature of their acursed bloodline means that the beast inside the vampire is more apperant than other strains. This fact alone makes it hard to socalize with both mortals and their kin, and this leads many to be driven mad by the isolation and repulsion they face regruarly. Many tend to squat in old catacombs and ruins alone, feeding on rats and occasional trespassers. However, many also unite to burrow into strange flesh like hives under the ground. These caves go on for miles in some cases, and house all manner of beast and monster. These hives have an easier time attacking settlements and feasting on the villagers, and sometimes are sane enough to kidnap survivors to use them to feed on back home, or whatever twisted plans the damned creatures can conjure up.
Aside from their apperance, their bloodline as well seems doubly sensetive to the sun, and even bright light can aggitate and daze them. This is perhaps one of, if not the only bloodline whos vampirism is almost entirely degenerative, aside from the immortality and increased strength. They regurarly make use of ghouls and other undead monsters that require little power to control as their bloodline does not have exceptional magical prowess. Their bloodline as well is also even more prone to mutation than the other bloodlines, and it is not unheard of for Strigorn vampires to experiment on their kin in turning them into mindless monsters just as hideous as their damned souls.
