Aramoor

Culture

Being the descendants of the legendary Heymon, the Almirans consider themselves to be simply the natural leaders of the kingdom. In this way, the other provinces should differ to them for all important legal and political matters. This does however lead to those outside the province to view the Almirans as stuck up and nosey know-it-alls. Almiran does have the highest education rate in the nation though, this is true. Almiran's have simply took the message of unity that Heymon preached to their hearts, and as such will constantly want to weigh in on political matters in the other provinces, which can rub some the wrong way. This promise of unity leads many of the noble class to join the military to make a name for themselves, joining the Knight Legion and even the low born will answer the call to war in droves, seeing it as their duty. Even the expansionist ideals of the early days of the kingdom live on, with some agitators preaching that they should war with Neundorf and Vebastonne to "claim their rightful god given territory".   Almiran's can be considered friendly, sociable, and open minded (or at least slightly more open minded than usually). Granted this open minded-ness gets a little hazy when one brings mutants or foreign faiths into the mix. Though this open-minded attitude is largely thanks to how cosmopolitan their province has become due to the massive amounts of people and cultural groups that have immigrated to Aramoor over the years. It is said that even if one were to travel from the other side of the world to Aramoor, they'd at least be able to find a small section of city that reminds them of home. Due to this, Almiran culture has largely developed into a massive mix of not just Ashfeldian but other foreign customs and cultures, even down to food and clothing trends. In fact, fashion and looking one's best is considered of high importance, not by the lower class but by the middle and upper classes. Every merchant or noble lord or lady is looking to one up the other with beautiful or even daring displays of ornate clothing. The Almiran's certinly do love their bright colors and rich history, and it is said that an Almiran street never truly dies, even at the the blackest of nights.

History

Hailing from the very tribe that the legendary Heymon came from, the children of the Gundobad tribe are the worthiest of all Ashfeldians, or at least so these same children claim. Their history as the Gundobad's is largely forgotten, but it is known that said Gundobad tribe was one of the largest in the entire country at the time, having long since been comprised of several conquered smaller tribes. Due to this, they suffered greatly when the hordes of monsters and Drow slavers came to kill, maim, and enslave all they found. That was of course until Heymon, herald of the Flame, united the tribes under one banner and formed the Kingdom of Ashenfeld.   After his disappearance, the Almiran people would go on to work to ever improve themselves, and turn the capital of Aramoor into a beacon in the kingdom. Thus it became the first city to house the great Magical Academy of Nadora, and hosts some of the finest schools in the land. A culture around education and betterment formed as the Almirans became the beacon they wanted to be. Many people from across Nilush would migrate to this new great province, specifically the capital as it became a cultural melting pot of the entire continent of Nilush.   They have since then always stood as those seeking to keep the Kingdom as united as possible. This regularly gets them into conflict with the many different provinces. However ever since the beginning of the civil war, the Almirans normally hopeful demeanor has soured. However now they have a fiery determination to set the provinces back in their place, and crush any who oppose the mighty king, ordained by the Pope himself.

Foreign Relations

"Yea I had an Almiran noble lady come by on me coach one time, pay was good but Vuyaja's Ears did she not shut her mouth. Kept complaining about how dirty me coach was, and said she would certainly not be giving a tip to me for the state of my clothing. All have ya know, my cloak here only has four holes and dirt spots on it, thank yous very much!" -Holden Tollere, Treehold Caravan Provicer   "I ask of you, fair traveler from Orleia, what better place exists in Nilush besides beautiful Aramoor. It has fine clothing, rich academics, fertile fields, good wine, fine goods, and even finer women. Why if you ask me, if the rest of the kingdom simply vanished, I doubt I'd ever miss it!" -Milton Ainsleys, Almiran Nobleman   "Yes I'm positive that the leg needs to go or else you won't get rid of this ailment. A second opinion?!?! Go ask a bloody Almiran if you want a second opinion, Flame knows they are only too happy to give their little opinions, now hold bloody still ya wanker" -Baylee Yonge, very annoyed Coltherstone Physician   "Stuck up pricks, the lot of them. They even have the nerve to claim to be better than the finest men and women of Diosia. I'd gladly show them the superiority of my sword technique if they weren't so fragile and cowardly." -Reinaldo Escobedo, self proclaimed Master Duelist of Diosia
Almiran's are the center of power for Ashenfeld, so they claim at least. Due to this it seems everyone has an opinion on them, some complimenting their loving and open minded nature, others calling them stuck up snobs always bullying their way into other people's business. Regardless, none can deny that they are one of the most well off provinces in the kingdom, and all the big political movers and shakers know to take their talks to Aramoor when they want to get things done.
