Criminal Activity
Since their founding in the murky final few months of the Great Revolution, the nations of Omhania and the Transomhan Republic have been at odds with each other, constantly skirmishing. However, for the most part, things were relatively 'civil', in that neither side ever resorted to dirty tactics. The United Omhan Movement was an extremist nationalist movement with ties to the Omhania Secret Service that was largely focused on the unification of the Omhan region. In early 73 PC, fighting between the two states flared up again, leading to protests by the UOM in support of Omhania in Transomhania. This led to a crackdown against the movement by the Transomhanians, setting the stage for what would come. In June, 73 PC, an artillery shell was launched from the back of a converted bus in the capital city of Ardgoil, attacking the Prime Minster's motorcade and killing her, along with several other members of the Transomhan government. Despite immediate investigation and search, the assassins were able to flee out of the country and requested asylum in Omhania. Immediately, the UOM denounced the attackers, who declared openly it was done in response to the Transomhan crackdown. Tensions between the two nations reached a boiling point, with the Republic of Tersten itself preparing to intervene. However, the President of Omhania instead ordered the assassins arrested, deporting them back to Transomhania to face punishment, and denouncing their actions as contrary to Omhanian unification. This turn of events has led to a thaw in a traditionally icy relationship, and the potential for peace between the two nations.
