Espowyes-Nez Perce name meaning light on the mountain
Espowyes resembles a lean human in size and build, but his sharply pointed ears, large pupilless eyes, and slitted nostrils immediately distinguish him as something drastically "other". Standing at 5'10" his body is covered in a short and dense layer down the color of freshly doused embers. Piercing eyes of polished obsidian miss nothing as he swivels his head to take in his surroundings.
He appears taller than others of his race due to losing the typical hunched posture caused by their wings.
He will be wearing armor made of darkleaf cloth and has a sheathed wakizashi on his left hip in a darkwood scabbard, as well as three sheathed daggers with one on each thigh and one on his hip opposite the wakizashi. Darkwood is as dark as ebony but much less dense so has a lighter weight. Darkleaf cloth is a special form of flexible material made by weaving together leaves and thin strips of bark from darkwood trees, then treating the resulting fabric with special alchemical processes.

Personal history
His older brother bullied him and when their father was nearing the end of his life he set a challenge for whoever would succeed him. The oldest son would go first and Espowyes would only get to try if he failed. He died or at least never came back, probably through Espowyes’ interference, and their younger brother suspected Espowyes and got him exiled after taking his wings for the suspected murder of their brother. It would have been the death penalty if Espowyes had been proven guilty. He has sworn not eat anything other than bland, simple food until he can eat as a king. This happened 3 years prior to meeting Nameless.
Espowyes has always been ambitious and power-hungry. However, in the time since he was exiled he had mostly given up. How could he ever be a king when he’s lost his magnificent wings and been exiled from his kingdom. His thoughts have mostly turned to survival but now and then there is still that lingering ember of desire. After encountering Nameless and Operation Overture, his ambition has flared back up and he sees a way to get back what was “rightfully” his.
Sees Operation Overture as a tool to take his kingdom back and will do anything to use them to do so. They seem so powerful that not only could they decimate any opposition, but with them at his back he might regain his kingdom with almost no unnecessary blood shed since his people will likely throw down their weapons in the face of such overwhelming power. However he hasn’t considered that the other kingdoms may not take kindly to him leading foreign invaders into their home or a foreign army attacking one of them, no matter who is leading it. And there is no chance of the expedition winning against the combined might of all of the Strix kingdoms.
Alternately he may return to his people only to warn them about Operation Overture and Oniyuri in an attempt to win his way back into power, having learned all he can about their strengths and weaknesses so that he can lead his people against them.

Do you see yourself as being not evil, but instead simply driven? Do you justify your actions by saying that you don’t like hurting people, but you want what you want, and you’ll crawl over the bodies of whoever stands in your way to get it? Maybe the world hurt you, and now you hurt it. Maybe this wrath is focused on particular groups, maybe particular groups are exempt from a general hatred, or maybe you just hate indiscriminately. Is there some final vengeance or absolution that could quench your fire?

Since he has apologized for this and explained why he did it, Espowyes has mostly forgiven him but still holds a bit of a grudge. Will want to punch him in the face to make up for it. This can also show his eye for an eye mentality.
