Footsoldiers are a common type of infantry seen in every militia on Terratos. Lightly armed and strong in numbers.

Structure

Footsoldiers are divided into squads of 30 units each and are led by a sergeant. These squads are mixed and matched with squads of other unit types to form platoons of 200 units. A platoon is then led by a lieutenant. ten platoons together make up a division of 2000 troops led by a corporal.

Tactics

Footsoldiers often use their numbers to their advantage. Each race, however, has distinct variations in their tactics: Humans like to wait out their enemies and strike them defensively, Elves make clever use of the terrain, dwarves use brute force and Ashens like to use hit and run tactics.

Training

Since this is the lowest achievable rank in any military, people that enlist are automatically put into this rank. Footsoldiers will receive basic combat training before actually participating in combat.

Logistics

Logistical Support

In order to operate efficiently, footsoldiers require guidance from their sergeants in the form of orders in the event of a battle. Every footsoldier is responsible for bringing their own equipment.

Auxilia

There are no auxiliary present in this unit

Upkeep

Enlisted footsoldiers are given a one time set of equipment and from there on out they are responsible for their own equipment, so if they happen to lose their weapon, it is their duty to acquire a new weapon.

Recruitment

Everyone that is enlisted in the Imperial Military Academy will be drafted as a footsoldier in the time of conflict unless they have trained to be in a higher position.

History

The most notable battle this unit has participated in is during the Battle of Independence, in which Human and Elf forces clash in a decisive battle.
