Kingdoms of Terrath: Aetha

A kingdom of nobility and class with a history of blood and steel.

Structure

Aetha is a totalitarian monarchy. The kings word is law, and no one would dare disagree.

Assets

Aetha is full of gold, armies, and huge cities. At one time, it had the largest army in all of Terrath, but even though it is not as big, it's soldiers are still rapped in the legend of bloodthirsty steel. It's architecture is also still marveled at today, even if Aetha's days of building grand castles and temples is over. The king's castle is only rivaled by Shiban's jade palace.

History

Aetha's exact origin is unknown, as the story of how it came to be has gotten muddled in time. All that is know is that someone created Aetha on the gods behalf and that Aetha's creator was likely related to Roskovan's creator.   Aetha was a small northern country until King Aldric made it his life mission to conquer the western peninsula and expand the kingdom. This was quite the feat in that time, as the peninsula was home to many barbaric clans that were bigger in numbers and, as it was believed, strength. At first, many campaigns to take out the clans failed, nearly destroying Aetha in the process. But then the tables turned when Aetha helped a barbaric island clan, the Tutaska, through a winter that they didn't have enough food for. In return, the Tutaska and a few other small clans they had favor with helped the Aethans take over the west peninsula, save for the islands the Tutaska lived on. This didn't last to long, however, as later a trader found a mountain full of gold and other precious gems in it, so the Aethans invaded the island and wiped out the Tutaska.   In 802, a series of boarder skirmishes set off a chain reaction leading to the declaration of war between Aetha and Shiban. One battle, called The Battle of the Mountains, lasted three days and ended in a stand still. Due to this, the Aethan king and the Shibanese Emperor signed a 30 year peace treaty. The peace between the two countries lasted until 910, when a power hungry king started expanding Aetha rapidly.   At the time, Aetha's military was at it's finest, and this was when they got the titles The Kingdom of Steel and The Bloody Empire. This expansion angered both Shiban and Roskovan, as it was their land that Aetha was expanding into. This sparked between the three.   In 971, an Aethan explorer found gold in modern day Renzinbar, which caused Aetha to take over the area, which was called Southern Aetha, and the tribes in it that were no match for their military.   In 1037, revolts and movements for independence sprung up throughout Southern Aetha, putting a strain on the Aethan military that was already struggling due to the war. In 1049, Aetha officially lost the war and signed a peace treaty with Roskovan, Renzinbar, and Shiban, which gave Roskovan and Shiban all of their land back and recognized Renzinbar as its own kingdom.   Aetha has been at a stand still ever since and has never recovered.
