Riley Maerindar
Arillion “Riley” Maerindar is a slight young elven man with brilliant red hair, green eyes, and a carefree smile. He is a veritable chatterbox and will talk at length with anyone about anything. He is friendly, cheerful, and has immense trouble staying in one place for longer than five minutes.
Originally thought orphaned at birth, Riley is actually the son of Aredia Maerindar, who gave him up at birth to Master Philomenes Taras of the Messengers and Journalists Guild, who raised him as his own son -- that is, until a doppelganger took Master Taras's place, intent on feeding on Riley's latent magic, torturing the young man for five years until the intervention of some intrepid heroes.
Now, Riley seems much happier. He has not only his beloved adopted father back, but a good relationship with his birth mother, and a lovely courtship with a tailor by the name of Prose. He is excelling at his magical studies, and everything would seem to be going perfectly. However, some nameless darkness seems to lurk within the young man. What could it be tied to?
