Alternate Names

Dwarf-sight

God-sight

Dream-orbs

Pre-requisites

Must be Dwarven.

Must have reached at least 5th Level in any class.

The Dwarf will then receive a dream-vision (hence Dream-orbs) that will give the Dwarf the 'recipe' for his particular eye-replacement. This could include simply a 'shopping list' of items to gain, but often also includes some form of preparation quest for the eye as well. This is seen as a blessing by all Dwarves, as even completely blind Dwarves have had such 'dreams' which resulted in the Dwarf recovering their eyesight.

The resulting orb is usable only by the Dwarf it was gifted too - but rumors exist of rogues targeting Dwarves to obtain these magical gems.

Background

As is known to all Dwarves, they were selected to be the replacement race of the Cyclops Master-crafters who helped Hephaestus in the past. As such their crafting skills grew, but over time Dwarves have started to suffer from a loss of eyesight in one eye. This has accelerated greatly with the lapse of the moon into a Moonstriken State, and has led to single-eyed Dwarves. In compensation for this loss - Hephaestus or Vulcan has crafted Eyes of Enhancement for those Dwarves deemed worthy.

Each eye is unique and requires a series of quests to gain - some are stolen from the idols of False Gods and Demons whilst others are forged through a combination of sacrifices (normally eyes), crafting (normally gems), and magic (normally clerical prayers to Hephaestus for the creation of the Orb). The results have ranged from Eyes of minor power that simply replace the normal eye - to those that can use Ultravision, X ray, allow for remote viewing, or even allow for the killing of enemies through the eye's magical powers.

Table Adjustments

The dwarf in sacrificing a gem is given + or - 1% adjustment to the throw for every 100gp of value of the gem sacrificed up to a maximum of 30% adjustment to all of the table rolls - the dwarf is given more of a say in what the outcome is. (So a 3,000 gp gem or higher will give will give a 30% increase or decrease in the roll results depending on what the Dwarf wants.)

Eye Table 1- Color

D100 Eye Color
01 - 50 Matching Eye Color
51 - 55 Gem like Eye color - choose

61 - 70 Blue
71 - 75 Hazel/Brown

91 - 00 Grey

Gem Like or Metallic give the opportunity for the individual to choose a look from any gemstone (for example Bloodstone, or Diamond), OR any metal such as Copper or Gold. But be aware that the more valuable to look - the more likely someone will try to steal it. For this reason many Dwarves still keep patches on their eyes to hide the nature of their Eye of Enchantment.

NOTE: Some clans automatically choose what type of eye they get - the Jacinth Kin always get Jacinth Eyes - these are gemstones that give off a light of their own (up to the strength of a torch) and benefit others around them - somehow the dwarf can lower the light emitted in the gemstone also once it is placed in its socket. Others, such as the Obsichain Kin gain a Rainbow Obsidian Eye.
