Description

The Daughters of Delphi are the Prophecy Keepers, the Oracles of Apollo that maintain his sanctuary, are referred to variously as the Daughters of Delphi, the Delphic Oracles or the Pythia.

There are three Oracle and Omen Consulting methods in Atlantis, magical divination, non weapon proficiency use of Omen and Oracle Methodologies, and formal Adyton Temple based Oracles, all three are used by the Pythia in some form or another. They are considered to be the best in Atlantis.

Class Requirements

The Character must be a female human, elf or half-elf, she must have a minimum Wisdom of 14 , a minimum Constitution of 14, and an Intelligence of at least 9.

Weapons and Armor Allowed

The Daughters of Delphi can wear any metallic armor (as per Priesthood of Apollo) restrictions, but traditionally limit themselves to chain mail due to the lattice network of chain mail emulating the Omphalos stone networked lattice upon it's surface. Symbolically the Pythia feels more connected to the God when encased in Chainmail - Platemail has a similar effect on them. They can use any type of shield.

Weapons - the Daughters of Delphi can use any form of non-edged weapon including slings, but can also use Bows just as all Apollonian Priests can.

Granted Powers

At 3rd Level, the Daughter of Delphi receives two forms of Prophetic Power - the Pythian Commune, and the Greater Pythian Commune Abilities, these are each usable once per day.

Pythian Commune

Description

The Pythian Commune allows the Oracle (3rd level Daughter of Delphi and higher) to ask one closed (yes or no answered) question per day.

For each use of this ability, when using this ability there is a base 50% chance that the Divine Inspiration State will provide the Oracle with the answer she seeks, from the source that she is seeking to gain it from.

Greater Pythian Commune

Description

The Greater Pythian Commune ability allows the Oracle (3rd level or higher) to receive a combined Clairaudience /Clairvoyance experience of the Present, the Past, or Limited Future.

For each use of this ability, as above, there is a base 50% chance that the Divine Inspiration State will provide the Oracle with the answer she seeks, from the source that she is seeking to gain it from.

Pythia Oracle Veracity Check

Ensuring that the information gained in an oracle session is true and complete is another difficult section to this skill. The Pythia has advantage in this area. At 3rd level they have a base 30% chance of receiving a full, and honest response from their supernatural sources, this is then adjusted by an increase of 3% per level after that.

Other adjustments to the ability include:

+05% for each language spoken from Celestial, Elvish, Titanic, Hadean, Herian, and Sphinx up to a maximum of +30%, and the following adjustments:

+05% for being under the benefits of a Bless Spell

+10% if using Prayer Beads or a Holy Symbol appropriate to the Ethos

Wisdom Adjustments

16 +05%

17 +10%

18 +15%

Additional powers granted at higher levels:

From 4th level and for every 4 levels thereafter, the Daughters of Delphi gain one point of extra healing to any healing spell cast by them. However, this bonus is only provided when on sacred ground dedicated to Apollo.

At 9th level and above, the Matriarch can use the Pythian Commune and Greater Pythian Commune twice per day.

Class Related Organization(s)

The Daughters of Delphi are dedicated to Apollo, and primarily maintain the Precincts of Delphi. They do sometimes go adventuring, but it is very rare to encounter them outside of the Delphi Complex. The Daughters act as the public face for the Apollonian Priesthood, and are the sister organisation to the Priesthood of Apollo.
