Chronic Anachronism (Chronik Anakronism)

Chronic Anachronism
Also called Chronos' Revenge

Overview

The destruction of Chronos's rule, brought on one last curse. The ripping of time - starting with the scattering of items, individuals, events, and even the Gods themselves throughout the timeline itself. Prior to this event, Chronos was recognised as the Titan of Destructive Time - but never had it turned upon time itself. In most cases the changes are imperceptible, however there are noticeable elements - which are marked in the campaign as Chronic (Temporal) Anachronisms.

Such anachronisms will be shown to have an author or creator from a different timeline and in some cases could even be an item or creature from a Parallel Universe. These elements are still being studied - with new ones appearing, and frustratingly, old ones disappearing at random throughout the World.

The Nature of Time

Time has fractured, almost ceasing to exist - the God of Time lies dead, and with his death came the near destruction of the timeline. In reaction to it's pending breakage, and to prevent the degeneration of the Universe - each God and Goddess has taken on some of the roles of the God of Time - and each has put some of their energies into maintaining a cycle of time. Each contributing in some way to the maintenance of the current timeline if not it's actual repair.

At the order of Zeus, each God must in some way contribute to keeping order over time.

Each God and Goddess has had to implement some form of metronomic pacing to reinforce the 'tick of time' from all parts of Reality a reinforcement to the fracturing of time. The rumor is that the more of the temporal system that is controlled by the each Deity, the more Chronic Power is gained by the God or Goddess in question.
They are in effect now competing to become deities of time - and no one knows who will win out in the end.

Causes

The loss of power by Chronos is said to have either broken his heart, or caused a rage-like response to the time itself. Regardless of whether it was done by accident or on purpose the result was the same. The timeline was fractured with causes and effects mixed about but held together with magic. The flow of time became irregular and unpredictable. At Zeus's behest, each God and Goddess has established some form of regularity to the flow of time through elements of their domain being repurposed to time-keeping roles.

Affected Groups

All of time and space have been affected. Individuals cast about in time itself with knowledge of events that never happened. Items from different times, realities and in different conditions have been known to appear.  The most widespread side-effect is the entire movement of Atlantis and the Gods to medieval societal times.
