Boat Pilot

Overview

This is a position of great responsibility - it allows the character to undertake to lead a boat through difficult or congested waters. This ensures the safe passage of boats through difficult areas that the captain may not have any knowledge of.

Career

Qualifications

The Character must have proficiencies in Navigation, Boating, Seamanship, and Signalling at the very least. This is often taken up by junior clerics of Poseidon as they have some control over events on water - and are seen as being blessed by Captains.

Career Progression

The Pilot can increase in ability and rank up to a Senior Pilot and even Harbor Master or River Master if they so choose to attain that rank.

Payment & Reimbursement

The city and tax system pays for their services.

Other Benefits

This is a very safe job and is often taken up on a hereditary basis - with sons and daughters learning it from their fathers and mothers.
