The Tafiya in Terra Rynn | World Anvil

The Tafiya

Translated as ‘the Itinerant’, the Tafiya is a deep-ocean caravel out of Qath in Arkoshia. With a crew of 36 and a few transient passengers, the Tafiya is the sole property of Captain Zaim Javad. A self styled buccaneer and priest, Captain Javad has recruited an eclectic band of sailors and hirelings as part of a divine calling to explore the continent of Nabare in search of an ancient myth.

Background

Despite his personal ambition, Capt. Javad is a practical leader, and has selected crew that are both capable as well as personally motivated. Understanding that his journey is a long one, Captain Javad bides his time by offering his ships services to various factions in Nabare, currying favor and building up his reserves for a future venture. In the interim, he’ll work for anyone if the pay is good, and the cause is just (or, at least not evil).   Javad is well respected among his crew, possessing a few strange rituals from time to time. Along with Javad are his trusted ‘siblings’ Sabir, Azgar & Galim Sahnoun - short Ulhadi dragonborn who serve as his primary navigators and logistical managers. They are the backbone of the ship and its crew.   There are a couple nabaran natives, such as the Keika Iuiqui - a lingual savant and advisor who serves as Javad’s envoy in dealing with many of the local tribes and ports. There is also the resourceful Azzi, a Zabikir orphan turned sailor who has an uncanny knack for ship construction and repairs.   The other senior crew include Yassine Berrada, a quiet half-eldari from maeron whose demure nature belies a practiced skill in medicine. Lastly there is Temo Saakadze, a muscovan nomad whose nose has seen many bar fights, yet still has a scent for a good stew. He serves as the ship’s cook, and unofficial father-figure for the crew.   The remaining crew come from anywhere and everywhere, including Thvisch, Svain, and Xin to name a few. Some lost souls and some eager opportunists found their destiny on the Tafiya, and enjoyed the adventure of crossing the Godsdeep.
